2. Surprisingly, the Russian Baltic Fleet was destroyed in the Sea of Japan by the Japanese fleet. Guess they should have stayed in the Baltic Sea but the Czar moved the fleet to the Pacific in the Russo-Japanese war. The strategic moved backfired spectacularly with a total rout by Japan. With the fleet destroyed, Russia soon after sued for peace.
