Even though I like this game very much indeed, I AM getting driven mad by the "putting crystals in caves" fairy test I've tried MANY times over the past couple of days without any success. So wondered if anyone who has solved it could tell me which two items I actually need to choose (before I start the test) to complete it ?? [Sadly this could well be a game breaker for me ]

Mad, there is a thread here on Steam discussing this issue. The last post is by the developer and hopefully it will provide you with assistance.

Thanks very much, Marian, but I have already looked at that Steam stuff and don't understand it The possible combinations of pairing any two items from six - to keep lugging round all the caves - is huge. And that's what I've been doing. What I don't understand is how, from that displayed EXITS list, you can work out which is the correct PAIRING of objects that will allow you to visit every cave in the correct ORDER Nor can you make a save during any part of this test !! I guess my brain is just not up to the job ( And thank you oldbroad also )

Thank you all I might just do that, Marian, but if it's different in every game, as some are, she might not even be ABLE to help After countless attempts at this puzzle I did go to Utube and did find a walkthrough. It was for the original version which is rather different to mine but I found the fairy test section and, in case the solution would work on MY version, I watched it - and - using the pause button - wrote down every step. All fruitless though because it didn't solve the test in my version

It's random?? I don't like random puzzles too much, especially on already hard or involved (multi step type) puzzles. What a shame. I guess I won't be playing this game any time soon. (Yes, I have it.)

I don't know if it's random, oldbroad.
Just a thought on my part ....

OK. I'm going to try a few more combinations but .... if still unsuccessful .... just because I like this game so much .... I will then re-start the whole game Only because fairly early on in the game there is a time when you can choose help via ONE item (from a list of items) at a wishing well - and one of the items is to get help from the fairies. [In my current game I chose help in communicating with animals.] I've no idea how much help I would get or if it would help with this "so & so" fairy test but it's something to try

Well, the deed is done !! I spent a lot of time today trying different combinations again - and all in vain again - after which I moved my saved games to a safe place and uninstalled the game. Playing through the early stages this second time won't take as long because I know how to solve many of the puzzles .. having solved them once already But there was no point in re-loading one of my previous early saves and proceeding from that because many events in the game can occur in a different order, depending on optional decisions taken, and I'd never remember which order I'd chosen. So .... Off we go
