Hi All - Not sure if this question belongs here or in Hints but I just started this wonderful, breath of fresh air game, and my question is regarding gameplay itself..

As I am walking Amia around trying to solve the Elevator puzzle, Emmanuel - the Guide - keeps jumping in and saying "You have to start the elevator first " Amia keeps saying Guide Guide ! This goes on and on and on... Even after I got the elevator to drop down !! SO my question is - Does Emmanuel the Guide keep repeating and repeating lines through the whole game and can that be turned off ??

I know I can hit the Space Bar to forward through this, but it is beginning to be a pain in the neck and I just started the game ! woozy

This is a GREAT game - by the way ! thumbsup

I don't have an answer to your question as to whether the guide can be turned off.

In the game description, it says:

A digital guide to help you in difficult situations and multiple difficulty levels to suit your experience.

and

you will also have access to a digital guide, whose advice can be crucial in many situations. But are you sure you can trust it?

Let's wait and see if someone else knows for sure.

I don't really know the answer to your question sureshot as I have only played the very, very first part of this elevator puzzle. Can you actually access and use the elevator or is it still just letting you know there is more to do? I don't know if you can turn that off or not.

I will add that I haven't had the guide talking to me all the time; only here and there, like at those terminals or whatever I think. I was playing the prologue. Maybe the actual game is different though. I don't know. I did not finish the prologue but bought the game and am just going to play that going forward since I believe the prologue is Chapter 1 of the game.

Hi oldbroad... I got the elevator to drop, I need to turn it so I can use it..but Amia is still saying "Guide Guide" and the guide is still telling me to find the elevator over and over again.. Seems like every 10-15 seconds.
To make matters worse, Amia's hand holding the guide also appears and it is getting distracting.
I had to stop playing in the hopes somone could tell
me it's either a glitch or how to turn that off.

Okay, so that is where I am at also. I guess I will have to start the actual game tonight to see if I have that same issue or not. It sounds to me like a glitch.

So, I didn't even have to restart the game. I thought I would because the Prologue is from Steam but the game I bought is from GOG. I opened the GOG game and there was a "continue" option so I tried it and was right where I had left off in the prologue. Yay!

The first thing I did was wander around a little bit just to see if the guide would open. It did not. Then I finished the puzzle to access the elevator and started playing as Bogard. I wandered around some more and clicked some stuff and the guide only opened at certain times, so I really do think you have a glitch, or maybe you just need to go to the next part of the puzzle to shut it up? Have you tried that? Since you are not too far into the game, maybe you can start a new game and see what happens?

It seems like it is going to be a good game. I'm playing on the easier setting.

OK Oldbroad - I will try a restart tonight. I purchased the game from G.O.G. and I am also using the easier settings. I stopped playing after I got the elevator to work but the "Guide" was still repeating the same "hint" to get to the elevator.

I will reload a new game tonight after work.

I am hoping it will "fix" itself because it does seem like a very good game.

Thank you for your help and input. I will update my post later.

Update - I uninstalled the game - re-installed it to my D drive instead of C drive. Then started a new game. I am still getting Amia and the Guide popping up often with the same dialog... She says Guide - Guide - the Guide says you must start the elevator ....etc . Sometimes this plays Twice - it just repeats. Even after I got the elevator to come down !!

I need to spin the mouse wheel to bypass the dialog so often - it is getting real cumbersome. I didn't solve the rotating elevator yet - I didn't have time on my "break".

I cannot find any settings that deal with the Guide - Only thought maybe to play the Hard version ? I may have to try that but first I need to get to Bogard to see if this continues.

Later my friends !

I was looking on both GOG and Steam and haven't seen anybody else with this problem. I also could not find anything in the settings regarding it. I wonder if you can contact the developer some way.

I don't believe the guide said anything while I solved the rotating elevator part except one time when I did something that was getting close to the solution. I hope you can figure it out. I'm sure that is quite annoying. frown

This goes to general help for Nemezis on GOG but I don't see anything about the guide specifically. Maybe something might help though?

If you bought the game from Steam, sureshot, I think oldbroad's idea about contacting the developer is a good one - you could post your questions on the Steam forum for the game. I do see the developer answering questions there.

He bought the game from GOG but if he has a Steam account, he still should be able to post for help right?

Yes, I think so.

If for some reason that does not work, their contact info can be found on this page.

Thank you Marian and Oldbroad .. I sent off my issue to the contact you linked me at Detalion. Maybe they can shed light on it.
Meantime, I installed the game on my wife's PC and so far, it is working as expected.

I think the issue is with my very high-end sound card but I am not sure yet...hopefully tech support can shed some light.

I am not a fan of Steam...bad history with them.

At any rate, let's see what Detalion comes back with. In the meantime, I can play the game on my wife's PC until she kicks me off.

Of course, I will share any progress I make with you.

I hope Detalion has an answer of some kind and am glad the game is working on your wife's PC so you can at least play it.

I didn't think you liked Steam but it is a good place to look to see if other people have the same problem you might have in a game. You don't need to be a member to just look there anyway.

Looking forward to hearing about your progress. I haven't played anymore yet myself.

I'm assuming you have fast internet. For me, this was an 11 hour download for the full game and a 5 hour download for the prologue.

woot woot I made it through the next puzzle.

Hi Oldbroad

I didn't hear from Detalion yet as these requests take time. I did manage to fix the problem - I THINK . I reinstalled my sound card drivers and I disconnected the Gaming Mouse and Keyboard I was using and replaced it with standard keyboard/mouse. So far the Guide sequence has not been a problem but I only just finished the elevator puzzles and am now playing as Bogard. That's where I left it for now. If Detalion answers me - I will share with all.

WOW - that's is a long download time ! It took me about 20 minutes from GOG to get the 11 Gig game and I thought THAT was slow shocked

IT is my profession and I would run some tests on your PC - I assume you not getting Internet service via Cable but that's 1 gig per hour download.
Try running some Speed Tests - this is one but there are many out there. Speed Test they are free and would tell you what speed you are getting - you can compare that with what you are paying for and contact your ISP if it is so far off.

Being summer - I don't play as much as would during the cold months but I would like to see this game through as I am a bit hooked on it now .. lol

I hope you enjoy the game and I do hope you checkout your Internet connection. thumbsup

I had to laugh, sureshot! That's roughly what it would take for me to download too. All I have available to me out in the country is wireless broadband from a tower. I'm happy if I get 10 - 15 Mbps!

I am out in the sticks and an 11-GB download would take me less than an hour. When I first moved here twenty years ago we were on dial-up, but I am happy to say that things have improved considerably since then. I feel very fortunate, considering my location.

I have had AT&T DSL Internet Basic 3 since leaving Dial Up in 2011. I've had 3 different computers that have been connected to it and all of them were the same speed. That is just what I have, it is not about my computer. While downloading games I can usually see that the speed goes up and down but it's pretty steady where it should be at the 3 Mbps. I did do the Speedtest check though since you posted the link and it came back at

20 ping ms (I don't know what that is.) Download Mbps 2.96 (Just a little short at the moment.) and Upload Mbps 0.39 (I think this is slow but I don't know and I don't ever upload anything so it doesn't matter to me I guess.)

I am used to, and accept, 1 hour per GB. At this time I don't see any reason to pay more money when I don't really think the speed would increase. Maybe if I went to Fiber it would, I don't know. I'm pretty sure my computer does not have the capability of wireless connection. When I bought my Windows 7 I bought a dongle thing but my router did not do wireless. Now my router does but my Windows 10 computer doesn't. I don't really care about that though.

Good luck with the game. I hope it continues to behave! I still hope you hear from Detalion though anyway, just to know they are responsive.

Oldbroad, just so you know, I am paying fifty dollars a month for my service. I don't know what you are paying, but I am actually paying less money now than I was when I had much slower speeds, maybe due to more competition in my area now. In my experience our upgrade was well worth the relatively small amount of extra money and we saw a really significant increase in our speed when we opted for more.

Yes, thanks Marian. Mine started at around $20 and is now at $38.00 but I don't think my phone line can handle anything better and I don't need the hassle of trying to figure out what needs to be done and maybe having people in the house. You may remember that it took me a couple of years just to get my router replaced. It overheated and lost connection for a long time. I only changed it last year when I got this new computer. I just can't deal with stuff like that. It is too stressful!

I understand, oldbroad. We already had a router/cable box that was compatible with the upgrade and no one had to come to our house or anything like that. They just flipped a switch somewhere on their end. I guess we were lucky.

I do remember the headaches you have been through already and sometimes you just have to be a in a certain frame of mind before you feel like dealing with it.

And the bottom line is that you are satisfied with what you have, oldbroad! The last two WiFi routers I got, I just ordered from Amazon. I just plugged them in, connected my devices and away I went!

OK - first of all - I got the game working on my own PC after reinstalling sound card, and switching out keyboard/mouse - then Re-installed the game again ! Game continues to work fine - Never heard from Detalion by the way ! crazy

Thank you all for your help and the discussion on Internet speeds - - interesting

I am on the Jersey Shore - we get them all... Verizon, Comcast, Optimum, and the Dish networks. They are all about the same price and have similar Speed offerings. We pay over $200.00 a month for Verizon - cable TV and Internet ( the worse one for tech support !! ). I get 100 Mbs download and the same for uploads. Not many of use Uploads unless you serving up videos etc.

Anyway - whatever your ISP and Plan really doesn't matter as long as you can get the games, check mail, and get on the internet,- nor does what computers you have so much. Even the fastest PCs can't increase the Internet speed you get - that is controlled by the ISP and the traffic in your area.

What an I trying to say ? I don't know - I forgot haha

Anyway, I hope all of get to play this game - It is very good and there are NO stick figures, Pixelated characters, cartoon people, or anything that looks like it was drawn by a 5 year old! It is pure eyecandy and challenging - the good old days ! thumbsup

Enjoy and Thank you again.
