Whilst scratching around looking for puzzles, I came across this one. Not being from our former colony, I cannot guarantee that the answers I’ve got are correct, but it would be interesting to see how many match up lol

Name the (American) sandwich...
(oh, and apart from 5a, the answers are in alphabetical order)

-1. Roast beef on a salty kummelweck roll. Beef on weck
-2. Cooked chicken breast and bacon, along with juicy ripe tomatoes and crisp lettuce layered between two or three slices of toasted bread with mayonnaise. Club
-3. A submarine-style layering of ham, roast pork, cheese, and pickle between a sliced length of Cuban bread. Cubano
-4. Beef on a long white French roll that is dipped into pan juices. French dip
-5. Strips of warm lamb on pita bread topped with the sauce, and usually garnished with lettuce and tomato. Gyro
-5a … and what’s the name of the British version of the above? Donner kebab
6. Two to three slices of thick toasted bread. On top of that you have two traditional choices: a thick fried ham steak or two large hamburger patties. Then a large amount of freshly made French fries are placed onto the top of it. Horseshoe
7. Open-faced turkey, bacon, pimientos, and a delicate Mornay sauce. Hot Brown
-8. Two slices of white bread containing ham, turkey, or chicken, and a slice of cheese are dipped in beaten egg and fried in butter, and a side of jelly to dip it in. Monte Cristo
-9. A round loaf of bread (about 10 inches across) filled with Italian salami, olive salad, cheese, Italian ham, and freshly minced garlic. Mufuletta
-10. Chipped steak (steak that has been frozen and sliced really thin) and cooked on a grill top with provolone cheese. Philadelphia cheese steak
-11. French bread, filled with fried oysters, and dressed with mayonnaise, lettuce, and tomatoes. Po' boy
-12. Grilled sandwich corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and Russian dressing on rye bread. Reuben
13. Yeast dough (a bread pocket) with a filling of beef, cabbage or sauerkraut, onions, and seasonings. . Runza, (Beorocks)
14. Small patties, fried in hot grease, traditionally served topped with mustard, dill pickles, and onions on a small-sized hamburger bun. Slugburger
-15. Chunks of lamb, pork, chicken, beef, or venison that has been marinated for days in a tart sauce and then grilled on a metal skewer, usually over charcoal or gas. Served between sliced Italian bread with extra sauce poured on top. Spiedies

Sometimes lost is where you need to be. Just because you don't know your direction doesn't mean you don't have one.
