I am not sure as to when the game saves. Some games like this only save when you are exiting the game, but I do not know if this is one of those or not. With some games, there is some kind of symbol that appears on the screen to let you know that the save is occurring, but I don't think this is one of them.

Keep us posted about the iron bar.

Finaly managed to make progess. Nothing to do with the iron bar.Simply a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Groping my way in semi darkness.

Still haven't had an automatic save - now 2 hours and a half into the game, according to a video W/T

petert, a poster on Steam posted the below information. Maybe you can try this in case you missed seeing the save icon. I'm pretty sure there is something to see but offhand I cannot remember what it looks like or where it shows up.

"It happens quite regularly don't worry, generally just after you're done with a task. If you want to check if your game is saved before you quit, just go to "load" (just after "continue" and "new game" in the pause menu) and you should see a picture of the last time your game was saved and the time of the save. That way you can quit without wondering if you just did some stuff for nothing. ;-) "

Oh, another posted this:

"Since my last comment, I actually found the gear icon. It flashes for a second in black right below the little notification whenever the main quest updates. So whenever you hear the sound of the main quest updating and the little notification box pops up in the upper right corner, a little black gear should pop up for a second just below. It's very easy to miss on darker backgrounds and it comes up for a second. "

Thanks so much for that information, oldbroad.

I checked on the list for 'load',and the only save is from two years ago when I first played the game. And that is in the clinic.

I guess it is not of great importance while I can 'continue' the game, but is still a bit annoying.

Seems weird to me that it's not saving but you can continue where you left off. That's a good thing though, but I agree it would be annoying.

From what I understand, it's kinda/sorta like the save-on-exit of a Big Fish game.

Somehow, I seem to have a problem with the game, in that I cannot make any progress.

I am now in Baranour, but I cannot make any progress - all of the little white dots have disappeared. I am now standing in front of Oscar at the bottom of the wide stairs coming down from the pier, but I cannot do anything at all, except rush about futilely trying to get the white dot to enable me to open up his heart.

Can anyone tell me if this is a recoverable situation?

I have tried the turning off and then on manoevre, but to no avail.

Since I have no clue about this game as I haven't played it, hopefully someone who has can help you out. Can I assume you've checked out the walkthrough to make sure you haven't missed something? I think links to it were posted in your other thread.

Peter, I merged your queries with your previous thread about Syberia 3 while changing the subject heading a bit. This way other players will be able to follow along with your progress and see what has already occurred.

Having said that, the Steam forum for the game has this thread about the interaction markers/white dots disappearing. Unfortunately this sounds like it may be a glitch.

There is another thread here that discusses this problem. One person said the following:

Quote
You can bypass the loading screen issues, including the disappearing interaction buttons and the broken Oscar's Heart fixing by only changing the quality of the game before starting it! Change it from faster to best, or from best to faster, then vise versa again, from best to faster, or from faster to best, depending which is your main preference, and the problems shouldn't occur ever anymore!

If this problem continues, I found some save games for Syberia 3 here.

It seems to be a ginormous glitch. I have tried the idea of changing Beautiful to Good and back again, changed to windowed mode and back again, but all to no avail.

An aditional peculiarity is that when I find Kate looking at Oscar and try to go back to the Krystal, the Krystal is only half there: the bottom of the Krystal is not shown, only the top half.

The only save that I can return to is the one where Kate has escaped from the clinic, and I don't fancy having to replay the entire game from there again, given the brightness problem!

Anyway, thank you for trying.

I am so sorry, Peter. You checked all the saved games for Syberia 3 that I linked you to, correct? If so, maybe someone else will have a saved game for you that will work. frown

Marian,

I tried to download one of the game saves, but did not manage to do so - I could not follow the instructions, so I gave up.

Not very computer savvy, me.

Peter, if you feel like it, you can post over in Glitches about this, where the techies should be able to give you step-by-step instructions. smile

I'm thinking while we're at it, we should make sure Peter's computer is up to snuff. The crystal only being half there sounds like a video issue.

This is a replay by Peter, if I'm not mistaken, though it certainly could be a different computer.

I think you might be right, oldbroad. But then, that would be requiring me to remember something!

Old broad is correct - I am replaying Syberia 3.

Draclvr's query about the computer is also backed up by the fact that, just before the time that I encountered the glitch in the game, a message appeared telling me that if I did not want a 'disc check' - or something like that - done, I should press any key. I did not press any key, and I was informed that such a check was made.
The result of this was that the computer stated that it had found errors, and that they had been corrected.

Does that sound a plausible reason for my current problem?

Possible. If you have disk errors, they could definitely cause problems. I just wanted to be sure your computer meets the game specs. If you want to discuss and investigate further, just post down in the Glitches forum!
