I found this on the Steam forum for the game:
From main menu, Options. Accessibility. Interaction. There are 5 things you can enable/disable to make those exercises a bit less tedious. The lock pick is controlled by enabling 'No High Accuracy Input' Under Gameplay, there is also a multiplier to give you more time to think.
Tweaking these things is supposed to make the lockpicking somewhat easier according to a poster in this thread:
There is a setting that bypasses the complexity of lock picking altogether (although it still requires an irritating number of mouse clicks). I lost patience and turned that option on to streamline the process.
Unfortunately I can't offer any more help than this as I don't have the game.
