Hi I have just bought this game off steam, really thrilled as its a long time since I played it . Installed it then started to play, Played a while , I then went to escape and clicked the save and the whole thing froze. I had to go to windows and restart to my laptop get back to normal . I am now wondering if this will happen again if I play it again .Any advice will be welcomed . Regards Maggsie

Unfortunately when you search the Steam forums about crashes and freezes with this game, they are numerous and not just with saving/loading problems. There is at least one whole thread about problems with saving/loading games too, with various possible solutions offered here. Let's wait and see what others have to say about this, as someone may have some simple suggestions for you to try. Interestingly, GOG released this game a while back and I remember reading comments about it to the effect that the GOG version does not suffer from the same issues as the Steam version and that the game is now stable. I don't have any personal experience with this, though.

Exactly what I have read, Marian. The GOG version appears to be much more stable.

I was thinking the same thing as Marian, maggsie. I don't know what kind of track record Steam has for refunds, but it's worth a shot!

I still have and can still play the original disk release but it does have a few anomalies so when GOG offered it I bought it from them. And I can confirm it runs beautifully 👍👍

Keep us posted on whether you get a refund from Steam... I've heard mixed comments about it.

What great news, maggsie. I was hopeful that since this is a known problem, they would issue your refund ASAP! With oldbroad and Mad not having any issues with the GOG version, I have high hopes you will be able to play it too!

I would wait as long as you can... there are still bugs they are working out. I'm not very happy about this new OS as it will knock out all my older folks that just want a computer to do email and FB. Their computers don't meet the hardware specs. I will have to enable something called TPM 2.0 on my motherboard... Total Protection Module and I don't plan on doing it any too soon. We have several more years.

Hi maggsie, please follow Draclvr's advice and WAIT until the time comes in the future when you have no choice, like Draclvr said you still have several years to go with Win10. Of course you will see Tons of Adverts on TV, Internet and social media to go for Win11, that is because when MS comes out with a new OS, THEY Want to PUSH, SHOVE people to their new OS. So again, follow Draclvr's advice and STAY with Win10.
