Is it absolutely required to download the patch 1.01 for this game to finish it successfully?
(My dial-up nearly takes an hour for the download)
scared help

I finished it without the patch and there was no problem. The patch is to fix some graphix issues. More info about that patch is here:

Thanks Hugh,

Guess I'll have to go check it out. I've been playing without the patch and it seems to be doing just fine.

Just can't wait for the dial-up! scared

I found a mention of a patch V1.02 and it said for PC that you had to have this patch or you can not finish the game as it allows Indie to move up and down vines and to turn while on them. I have not found a download site for V1.02 and if it is 13.2MB, I'll be downloading all night at 28,800 connection.

I am having a problem with vines. Indie will not swing while on them. I did rebind my keys to use the arrows instead of W,S,D,A. These are the keys to use to make Indie swing but my arrow keys only make him climb up or down.

I'm finding the keys and buttons in this game (and most of the newer games) to be very cumbersome. No matter how you rebind your keys, you still end up taking your hand off of the mouse sometimes. The old Tomb Raider controls were so nice...sigh.

burpee, are you saying that WASD won't let you swing either. i thought i read somewhere that if you rebind the keys for movememt you have to revert back to WASD to swing .

where did you see mention of this 1.02 patch. the patch sites all have 1.01

Yeah, this is such a pain. The only solution is to set the keys to default before you swing, and after making the jump, set them back to your way again. I hated that, specially in the last level of first chapter. However I didn't need to set my keys to default in "Prague" levels as the ledges were not too far and you could just jump forward from the rope without even swinging.

Rebinding the keys is what I was about to try since I couldn't find any different information on the web. Hugh, that does sound like a pain.

Zanthia, here's the link to the V1.02 mention:

Go down to PC CONTROLS and they mention it. Don't know if that's a mistake but I haven't seen that problem addressed at any of the V1.01 download sites. Would have been nice if they would have given an address for its download.
