Hi all. This is Wade of Heiress Software. My sci-fi text adventure Andromeda Acolytes is launching on Kickstarter on August 3, but first it's going to a beta test on Steam (July 30-August 2). And right now I'm running text-adventuring competitions (with Steam and itchio prizes) in the Discord server during the lead-up to the beta. About the game: In the Andromeda galaxy, humanity doesn't know why it is on the planet Monarch or how it got there. When an underwater accident in Monarch Harbour awakens a strange power, four very different women are drawn into each other's orbit, and into a race towards the mysteries of Monarch's origins.
You play all four heroines in this big multi-chapter sci-fi text adventure set in a young galactic colony still discovering its identities. Type your commands and read what happens next as you negotiate underwater mechs, AIs, abandoned cities, crime, friendship, suspense, horror, humour, an art exhibition, virtual realities and a tank. This is a prose gaming experience offering all the inner-world power of a novel plus the fine-grained puzzle and world engagement of gaming. The only graphics are in the automap!
Puzzles are woven throughout the game, starting out light but becoming more complex as the story evolves. You'll be doing different things in different locations in every chapter as you help the characters pursue their goals, some noble and some the opposite. You'll explore, deal with friends and enemies, overcome physical and mental obstacles, fight, flee, and pursue mysteries. Here's the Kickstarter 'Notify Me' buttonHere's the Steam pageAnd this is the Discord linkIf you'd like to see a big, very modern text adventure, I hope you'll back this game! Thanks. -Wade

You know looks very cool. Have not played a text adventure in years. A text adventure brought to date. The only draw back will be the releases. Its gonna be awhile for all chapters ?.....NO ? I like the: "CUSTOMISABLE UI (because reading all this text had better be comfortable) *Resize the game window where and how you want it *Change fonts, zoom levels and margin sizes *Choose from amongst a number of themes, including system-respecting dark and light *Toggle the graphic automap on or off, zoom it in or out, and switch it amongst two sizes and four onscreen positions" This has never been done as far as I know. Have always hated text on any game that was so hard to read, too small, crazy fonts, etc. GREAT IDEA ! Thank you. The Andromeda Galaxy -- Click in the pic. Have seen many times throughout the years
It's never too late!

Thanks Orion. You've perceived correctly that it is going to be a while to write it I've done four chapters so far. I talk about the time factor in the Kickstarter video, which I've recorded but can't be viewed 'til the campaign opens. This is also a reason I make a point in my Kickstarter blurb about my history of completing large projects, so people feel they can trust me to complete it. ...This has never been done as far as I know. Have always hated text on any game that was so hard to read, too small, crazy fonts, etc. GREAT IDEA ! Yes, it's funny, in text-based game circles, there has been an increasing desire to make things fancier and style the text etc., to give particular games particular vibes. But those efforts tend to fight the fundamental business of making things easy to read, which is highly particular to individuals when it's done via a screen. So the trend with the major authoring systems remains: You take the game, put it in an interpreter of your choice, and then adjust settings in the interpreter to your taste. For mine, I'm using the Lectrote framework that was written by Andrew Plotkin for his Steam adventure Hadean Lands. Thanks for the Andromeda pic! -Wade
