These are amazing. Hosted by Paul Morgan Stetler, aka Curtis Craig, lead actor from Phantasmagoria 2: Puzzles of the Flesh has put together a series of recent interviews with actors from both Phantas 1 & 2. They discuss their parts, go behind the scenes with vids, pics and more. He also does playthroughs of Phantas 1, Phantas 2 and Gabriel Knight: The Beast Within. The one that caught my attention was the playthrough of Phantas 1 with Victoria Morsell, aka Adienne, the lead actress of Phantas 1. Don't miss Victoria's interview . It's really good. There is a scene with Roberta Willams mopping the sound stage floor with a game scene from Phantas 1 behind her in Victoria's interview -- 1 hr 19 min into the vid

There is a lot more here, Conversations with Curtis

A newly uploaded interview with Jane Jensen discusing her games, Sierra and a GK 4?

All this is making me want to play both Phantasmagoria games and GK: A Beast Within RIGHT NOW ! Do I have 3 computers hooked up?.......

"Do I have 3 computers hooked up?......."

I do !! And from different Windows eras.

Which is how I manage to play tons of oldies that haven't been tweaked for modern machines.
[Seeing as I'm a technical dunce for using things like Scumm and stuff of that ilk lol]

I've actually been watching some of these for the last several months. yes

And you don't need three computers hooked up to play these games - just download them from GOG, all on the same computer. wave

And Mad, ScummVM is *really* easy to use. That is one alternate method that does not need to be intimidating - I understand that some of the other methods can be, though. smile

Oh, I've bought plenty of ready tweaked game downloads from GOG, Marian, and I appreciate every one, but there are plenty of other old games I own that haven't been tweaked by anyone so the oldest machine in my triple set-up is very useful for those.
[Heck !! I only retired my Win98 in order to make room for a Win10 and I'm still sad about that because, as Jenny100 often said, playing an old game on the Windows version for which it was designed can have advantages yes ]

Mad I have all the comps as well and all still working having checked them out this past year. Radio Shack Tandy-DOS, Win 95, 98, XP, 7 and 10. In the middle of playing Darkseed, around 6 months ago, on the Tandy my CD Rom Drive stopped but still can use the 1.44's. Ticked me off. Was one of the first to get one when they came out and I installed in the dos machine. Guys at Waldensoftware were very envious. One of these days I will look into Dos Box or a virtual machine

Marian I have all the GOG versions and also have the boxed versions as well. Was wanting to play them all at the same time--JOKE

and you are welcome oldbroad and yes all the time

Okay, Orion, I guess I'm just a bit slow today - sorry I missed your joke! laugh

Mad, I too am sad that you had to retire your Windows 98 computer. I know just how you feel as I had to retire mine a few years ago and was very sorry to see it go. wave

Now these are two games I would pay good money for if they reworked the originals into High Definition much like they are doing with Tex Murphy's Pandora Directive and what they did with Riddle of the Sphinx and to a lesser extent, Myst. Come on...whoever owns the rights...what do you say? idea

Marian there was no need for a "sorry". Reading that line I could not tell I was just having fun. Thank you for trying to send me in the right direction to get the games. Very thoughtful of you

Mad what comps do you still have. You Said 3. I got that Dos machine in the late 80's and bought the others as the OS's changed. I never could get rid of them still in perfect working order. I'll bet that was hard to do. Every now in then I pull one out to play a game that todays machines won't play or GOG has not fixed. The latest was Darkseed II

GreyFuss I too would love to see Phantas 1 & 2 along with GK: The Beast Within remastered but it won't happen. In Jensen's interview she talks about the day Sierra decided to close the doors. She said it was a mad house I believe and in a matter of a couple of days everything got pitched. I can't believe for the life of me they did that. Some of the best games in the history of PC gaming are GONE. All that work TRASHED! What were they thinking? Then again none of them thought about maybe one day todays technology could revive their games for another go around. I'll bet they are regretting especially the Williams.

Stetler talks to Jensen about these, I think, 75 tapes that he has somehow gotten a hold of that only contain the movies of Phantas 2. There is not much they can do with them because they don't have the rest. Stetler has this Chat Mat Van Rhoon - Creative Director of the Tex Murphy: The Pandora Directive remaster about these tapes that were located stuffed into a draw and what they can do with them. This conversation starts 4min 58 sec in to this video

Thanks Orion...oh so sad to hear that the originals were thrown away...why oh why would someone thin that throwing away any form of art away and I forgot all about GK 2. These are games that really drew me into gaming and why I invested in my first computer in 1995. I was a big adventure reader at the time and I fell in love with actually being able to play in a adventure instead of reading it.

BTW: Thank you for the Links to the conversations with Curtis. Started with the first one and...there are so many over many hours but I am already enjoying listening and its taking me back.

BTW2: I loved Phantasmagoria 2 up until the corny alien type ending areas. Up until then I liked the game play and intrigued by the story.

Your welcome GreyFuss, they take me back a well

I went and found the time stamp on Stetler interview with Jensen about these tapes he has and the so called "Chainsaw Sunday" were they dumped their work. Jane says it was a scary event. He has 70% of video footage of Phantas 2 covering all 5 chapters in five tapes not 75 tapes like I had mentioned.

The conversation starts at 1 hr and 8 min -- Interview

"Mad what comps do you still have."

My Win98 is sitting in a spare bedroom but if I had table room I would still have it in use lol
Actually ON my table currently and fully used are WinXP, Win7 and Win10 machines.

My first games were on a computer which was actually a works one (although an oldie) and my Son in Law put some DOS Adventure games on it for me to see if I would like them.
[Before that the only "game" I'd ever tried was a Golf thing yes ]

Very nice set up Mad. I am glad you still have it. I thought you pitched it. I guess you did say retire. Never get rid of them as long as they keep on working. Older comps are gems. You can never replace them once pitched and they sure do come in handy with games that only work on them. Like jenny 100 said, "Playing an old game on the Windows version for which it was designed can have advantages." She was not lying about that. My first purchased game was XF5700 Mantis Experimental Fighter bought in 1991 for my DOS comp. When I saw that GOG had released not too long ago I bought it from them. The sound is terrible just like the video. I actually played not too long ago on the DOS. The sound is very good. It was really cool to watch that game come up on that comp. Before then it had been about 10 years since I last turned it on. Brought back a lot of memories as well. Well enjoy your set up Mad

Where is jenny 100 by the way? How she doing, anyone know? There was a Laura someting that use to hang out here as well. They both use frequent JA where I met them. They brought my attention to GB back in the 90's I believe. I take it Witchen has passed

Orion, Jenny100 passed away last year. frown

I miss her so much.

Here is the thread where her brother posted with the news. Jenny100 did not want everyone to know about her illness and thus only a few of us knew what was going on while she was struggling with this. She continued to post on GameBoomers right up until about a month before she died.

Laura (gatorlaw) was last logged in here in January 2020.

Witchen has not posted in ten years. Not sure what her status is.

I'm really sad to hear of her passing Marian and I am sorry. I can't remember how we connected years ago but we had. It might have been at JA, GB, PM's at JA....I don't remember. I do remember how she loved to help others out and was very good at it. Reading all the condolence posts she was loved by so many. I have always said it is never a good thing when a loved one passes away but I believe Jenny's passing was a good thing knowing what she was going through. According to her brother she was suffering SO MUCH yet she fought to be with the ones she cared about and loved here. She was a strong beautiful women and is no longer suffering. I can only hope I / we have that same strength Jenny had as time passes.

Jenny 100

***********

I was a Mod / Reviewer for Randy at JA when I met Laura (Gatorlaw). She was a frequent poster there. One day she informed me about GB and asked me to check it out, come over. I did, watching / reading, for awhile before I joined and started posting while I still worked at JA. That was not liked to well with some over at JA. My occupation came into play and I was no longer able to do either site like I use to, just in and out. As time passed, I don't know.....I had lost interest in both sites, maybe had forgotten about them, moved on? I'm glad that I came back to GB. Reminds me of the past and just enjoy being here and getting envolved. It was always a lot of fun. Anyhow that is how I met Gatorlaw

Witchen...I always thought she was the proprietor of GB. Can't remember why but I did. Guess I was wrong. We never had any contact

Now....I joined in 2000 yet my posts start in 2009 at GB. I know I was posting here before then. Have some postings been removed / deleted or what. It's no biggy just confused

Orion, to the best of my knowledge Witchen never owned the site, but she was a past moderator here. I remember her very well because she was here all the time in the early days of GameBoomers.

About the posts you are not seeing, you would have to ask Ana about that. I believe that some posts may get purged over time if they are ancient enough, or it may be that they don't show up here but are archived in some way. Not sure.

When I look at my posting history, it goes back to December 2000, but I know that I also had posts between July 2000 and December 2000, and they don't show up for me.

Orion, Witchen was the Hints Moderator when GameBoomers started.

Once upon a time we used to trim back the threads to save bandwidth. Not all, but the least informative ones. It used to cost a lot more back in the day for hosting and you paid by gigbytes. We haven't trimmed back any threads since I took over in 2017. Not sure how long before that we stopped.

Thank you Ana......I can understand having to trim back because of costs back then. I was curious to see my first post here, when it was, what did I say. Thank you for keeping GB up and running. It certainly is one of a kind with a lot of history

Your welcome Mikael.....Interesting indeed. That channel is good one. Great interviews
