I'll add it to my collection of versions of Skyrim. Nice to have it on GOG.

When I removed Steam from my machines, Skyrim was one of the games I then had to live without - and I just kept hoping that GOG might offer it down the line, sometime.
And now here it is !!!!

[I'll have to see, when I come to play it this time, if I can get through the opening scenes any quicker. I'm pretty sure it took me at least a week the first time ]

You are most welcome, Mad! It's been a long time coming, but it finally arrived at GOG. GOG made a lot of folks happy today.

OK. I used Galaxy to download the game and let it put the game launching icon on Desktop.

But I want to play without Galaxy. And I believe to do that I have to delete the launch icon it has installed and drag one across from the game files to put in its place ??

So before I actually delete that current icon, do I drag the one called "SkyrimSE" or SkyrimSELauncher" ??

And if neither of those, which one ??

Since I don't have it yet, I'm not sure, but I'd lean towards the Launcher. Does either one have an extension of some sort?

They are called "Applications" and give KB amounts if that's what you mean ??

Anyway, I tried the "delete and swap" with both (one at a time, of course) but neither would launch the game.
I just got error messages about missing files

So I've totally uninstalled the game now and cleaned everything out and rebooted my machine - and later I'll re-download it.

It seems neither was the game launcher. Usually the extension is .exe or something like that.

There IS an exe file, Draclvr but I had assumed that that was the same as the one that appears as the launch icon on the desktop .. because it includes the word "Galaxy" in it.

So I haven't tried swapping that one.

[I do now have a new download of the game waiting to be meddled with ]

Nope that's not it. That one uses Galaxy and I take it you do not want to use Galaxy, right?

Try this... right click on your launch icon on the desktop and then select Properties. See what the path is.

Right clicking on the desktop Launch Icon brings up a very long path.
I have written it out below and HOPE I've got the spaces and apostrophies etc etc etc all in the right places !!

"C:\Program Files (x86)GOG Galaxy\GalaxyClient.exe /command=runGame /gameld=1171230643 /path="C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Skyrim Anniversary Edition"

As you can see, Galaxy is also mentioned in THIS path several times, so I'm not inclined to think I have a "go ahead".

Yet I know in the past I've seen instructions to swap launch icons (and avoid playing the game using Galaxy) on this very board - and more than once - so was hopeful I'd be able to do that with this game.

You can if you find the right launch icon! But it almost might be worth it to just use the desktop icon so you can play the game. I do not find the Galaxy app intrusive at all unlike the Steam one.

Well I guess I don't have a choice then but I'm disappointed
