Check out the official announcement from Cyan Here.Check out the trailer here.Check out the official website here.Q: Are you working on a remake of Riven?
  A: Yes.
Q: Is it a remaster or a from-the-ground-up modern remake?
A: It is a modern remake.
Q: Is this remake point-and-click only like the original Riven was, or will it be traversable in 3D space?
A: The remake of Riven will be fully traversable in 3D space. Any other supported navigation methods will be announced at a later date.
Q: Why did this take so long? It’s been 25 years!
A: Riven is one of the most highly regarded games in Cyan’s history. We didn’t want to approach it lightly or frivolously. Cyan is a small indie studio. We wanted to make sure we could take on such a difficult, costly and complicated endeavor – and do it well.
Q: Is this the Starry Expanse Project?
A: No, this is a from-the-ground-up remake of Riven from Cyan. However, the Starry Expanse team did assist in kicking off this project. See our blog post here for more details on that.
Q: Which platforms is it coming to, when it is coming out, what are the system requirements… etc.?
A: We don’t have information to share about that yet.
Q: If I purchased a copy of the original Riven, will I get a free copy of this remake?
A: Thank you for your support over the years! But, no. This new Riven is not an update or upgrade, it is a modern from-the-ground-up remake that has required (and will continue to require) a substantial investment of resources. Happy Gaming!

I'm so glad they're remaking the game. I've replayed the original several times, but it will be wonderful to wander everywhere in the game.

This is great news, but I must wonder if URU is on the "To-do" list. I still think that after all these years it's one of the mostbeautiful games ever.

That is exciting news Ana! Riven was such a wonderful game...I still have the original version. Maybe I can still play it on my old computer!

Oh, this is awesome news! Thank you, Ana!
I tried a replay on my iPad when that came out, but Riven requires notetaking, for me, so playing it from the sofa really didn't work.
I did think it was funny that I had to buy a new PC to play Riven when it came out (my PC froze long enough for a bathroom break everytime I hit one of those spinning domes), and I was able to play it on my iPad mini.
That said, I will probably have to buy a new PC to play this one too. My PC is pretty good, i7/16GB RAM/SSD drive--but it's small form factor so I can't fit in a good video card. Even for adventure games, that's starting to be a problem--I'm pretty much limited to old games on GOG and HOG these days. Can't play the new Syberia for that reason, which was very sad.

This remake was touched on again at the Cyan "State Of The Union" Presentation - Mysterium 2023 posted 2 weeks ago. Scroll 13 min into the video. Following the Riven presentation they talk about the new direction Cyan is wanting to take - "New Stuff". Scrolling to 38:30 gives a look at a Riven's "Boiler Island" demo still in development. The remake can be played front to back but is not finished as explained. No release date availble at this time

I think know what you mean oldbroad. These remakes sometimes come out with that 360 scroll. I call it 360 vision. Many games today are developed with it as well. It makes my wife's head go bonkers. I don't like it but deal with it. If I am playing a game by myself I move at speeds I need to but if we are playing a game together I have to turn at a slow pace not to get her seasick. Its a pain and can be tedious but we deal. It looks like this remake of Riven will have it. If I am not mistaken I believe you can actually control mouse rotating speeds in some games in the Options menu. Regardless we / I will be playing this remake when it releases
