FYI: the demo is in fact gorgeous. Astoundingly beautiful graphics. A little taxing on the old PC re. optimization, but stunning to look at. However, fair warning: if you're a PC gamer who uses mouse and keyboard ONLY (I don't have or use a gamepad or controller, old-schooler that I am), beware that the KB controls are difficult to use (at least in the demo). Besides, the game itself has a warning at the begining: "gamepad recommended."
---For instance, in the demo, there is a dark cave-type area, where you MUST hold down the right-mouse-clicker to KEEP your "lantern" lit also while ALSO using either the default WASD keys (or you can re-program them, as I did, to use arrow keys for direction). I could NOT keep the mouse button held AND use movement keys so I could not quickly jump (when required). Thus: plummeting to my death. Over and over. I eventually gave up and uninstalled the demo. Until this dark area in the demo, the game worked fine with my M/KB controls (outside in a beautiful forest, interacting with a host of lovely beings and animals), because it was daylight and I didn't need my lantern. I was so dissapointed I could not continue.
Perhaps the DEV (s) will adjust programming so non-controller/GP users can play teh game. I hope so: it's so beautiful!

Thanks for the info robedits! Maybe post in the Steam "discussions" and see if you get a reply from the devs.

That's unfortunate to hear robedits! Thank you for the info! I don't like doing gymnastics with my fingers to play a game.

I downloaded the Demo and am going to give it a try.

EDIT: Clumsy, awful interface. I assumed it would be the good old "mouse for direction and WASD keys" for movement. Nope. Mouse does nothing, so you are reduced to holding the W key and using the A and D keys for direction. I've played games like this, but it's not fun. Had to give up on an RPG because of it. This is definitely a gamepad game. I have one, so maybe I need to learn how to use it. But I am terribly disappointed because it is a beautiful game and appears to be a good one.

Thanks Ana, doesn't sound like a game for me unless they fix the controls.

ABsolutely, oldbroad. POsted in Steam discussion groups . NO response from DEVs yet but hopefully they'll fix the control scheme for M-KB players (admittedly we M-KB users are considered dinosaurs by the game creators nowadays as so many games are console ports). I don't have a lot of hope this will happen. WHich is a shame: it's a stunning looking game.

I got a very immature response when I posted my critique on the Steam discussion group. From some childish console lover, I guess. Basically "get a gamepad, grandpa" was the gist of it.

The developer responded:

Quote
Hi!

The demo is optimized for gamepad, but we will do the best we can to make it work as good as possible for keyboard & mouse before release!

Best
Fredrik, developer

So there is hope anyway! I'll have to go take a look at the discussion board there.

The game is now available! I moved to the DarkSide due to the "Boss Battles".

Thanks, Ana. I download the "new and improved" Demo which is supposed maximize the keyboard/mouse controls. Wrong. There is zero directional control with the mouse - still just WASD. If all you do is walk around, it would be tolerable, but there is no precision or fluidity in movement. I am SO disappointed.

That's unfortunate, Drac. It looked like such a good game.
