A young Sherlock Holmes and John Watson undertake their first case together, a chilling and psyche-shattering mystery that has them confront a secretive, Cthulhu worshipping cult.

The story is a creative reimagining of what traumatic and sanity-breaking experiences the young detectives could have endured at this crucial point in their relationship. Memories, secrets and scars that would go on the shape them into the famous yet flawed detective duo the worlds knows them for.

Experience a nerve-racking Lovecraftian adventure, rebuilt from the ground up with modern graphics and gameplay. Become Sherlock Holmes, and find yourself at the heart of the terrifying Cthulhu Mythos as you investigate a series of mysterious disappearances in Europe and the US.

A Lovecraft meets Sherlock Holmes crossover, The Awakened puts you up against the legendary Cthulhu Mythos. Investigate a series of mysterious disappearances, apparently linked to a dark cult that worships an Ancient God. Whatever their plan is, you must put a stop to it… or face unspeakable consequences.

For the first time in his life, Sherlock is truly afraid. A man of rationale and reason, he faces an otherworldly entity that defies all logic, and this discovery is as enlightening as it is shattering. The pursuit of the truth pushes Sherlock to the verge of madness, and it’s the only story that Watson will never publish.

Taking place in 1882, The Awakened lifts the curtain on how Sherlock and John, mere roommates at the time, became the world-famous crime-solving duo.

Key pillars
Investigate the Cthulhu Mythos as imagined by H.P. Lovecraft and face Eldritch horrors beyond human comprehension
Fight encroaching insanity as you pursue answers to questions that have no rational explanation whatsoever
Find clues that will lead you through the famous Baker Street in London, a haunting psych ward in Switzerland, the perilous Louisiana wetlands and more
A reimagining of the 2008 title: Rebuilt from the ground up in Unreal Engine, The Awakened boasts modern graphics and animations, an expanded storyline, numerous side quests and new mechanics including unique insanity gameplay.

“I’m not sure if any one of us will ever release another game with so many memories and emotional baggage attached to it. This game came about as necessity to keep the studio alive during the war in Ukraine but it also gave us all a very strong purpose and a much-needed distraction from everything going on around us. What is next is already in the works now that we have proven to ourselves, we can keep going, despite the war.”

- Sergiy Oganesyan, Head of Publishing, Frogwares

Thank-you Ana. That's a moving statement from the developers.

Very moving to say the least

What they managed to accomplish here is absolutely amazing. I can't imagine.....Check out this video to see some of what they had to deal with while rebuilding, from the ground up, the "The Awakened". You can also find that video here along with other vids and the Demo Playthrough which by the way is no longer available

As far as the game goes to help support these guys I have purchased GOG's Premium Edition. The one DLC included, Whispered Dreams Side Quest Pack, adds six additional cases to The Awakened and includes The Detective's Wardrobe cosmetic set. If you're gonna play one of the best if not the best Sherlock Holmes ever developed why not add to the game where you can. The rest of the DLC's that came with the Premium Edition are a bonus, all for a decent price. The The Awakened and it's DLC are not discounted on Steam at this time

I hope Frogwares can continue to develop games in the future and this war comes to an end. They have brought us so much entertainment thoughout the years and I believe they would be missed. Hopefully nothing terrible happens to them, their families, friends......Has to be a nightmare

Thank you Ana

Yes. I think it's "awesome" that Frogwares doggedly carried on with this game - and are bravely hoping to give us more !! praise

Thanks, BrownEyedTigre smile

Cheers Ana

I was really looking forward to this one as I have played all the Sherlock games, but it looks like I will have to have an upgrade as my current PC specs fall short, my processor is an Intel Core i3 and the minimum requirements are an Intel Core i5 and recommended Intel Core i7

Here is someone on YouTube playing the game with an intel i3. It might be doable, depending on your video card as well as the amount of RAM your computer has. If you wish to discuss it more, please feel free to post in Glitches as the techies there could probably advise you.

Yes, will probably have more to do with your video card and RAM than anything.
