A Coruña, Spain - September 28, 2023. Aruma Studios, the independent game developer known for the point-and-click adventure game Intruder in Antiquonia, is pleased to announce its latest project, Shadows of the Afterland. The game is scheduled for release in 2024 on PC (Windows, Linux, Mac) and Nintendo Switch.

Aruma Studios, co-founded by Silvia Izquierdo and Rubén López, today revealed their second full-length adventure game. Shadows of the Afterland is a supernatural comedy adventure that takes players on an enchanting journey through the realms of the living and the afterlife. Set in 1960 Madrid, the game tells the story of a soul who arrives with the memories of Carolina, a pioneer of the Madrid police force who, shockingly, hasn’t even been born yet.

As players step into Carolina's shoes, they'll be able to use magic, switch between worlds and take possession of the living to solve clever and logically sound puzzles that are closely interwoven with the storyline. A quest that will eventually require confronting the sinister forces that haunt the world of the living.

“We're thrilled to take players on this supernatural journey, where they'll have to confront their fears and make tough decisions about their destiny”, said Rubén López, who wrote the story. "We've poured our hearts into creating a hauntingly beautiful world, with meticulously crafted pixel art and a soundtrack that will send chills down your spine", said Silvia Izquierdo, who is in charge of production.
