I vaguely remember a story when he was staying out in the countryside somewhere. If that was when he retired, it could have had something to do with animals.

An even better word than that, manxman  This game is derived from Piquet, and uses two piquet packs of cards (7 to ace inclusive) instead of the single pack used for piquet
