The walkthrough written by MaG here at Gameboomers several years ago gives you step-by-step instructions for the ring puzzle.Secret of Shadow Ranch Walkthrough

Correct, oldbroad and Marian. Due to increased security in new browsers, none of the pictures will show up in our previous walkthroughs. The board software is old and we've done everything including standing on our heads, but the amount of reverse coding would be difficult if not impossible. We believe we have found a work-around and were over the moon when it worked for the latest Nancy Drew walkthrough from NDLVR/Jen. It was a lot of work, but we will do this from now on!!
Some people have said if they turn their secure settings down or off in their browser, the pictures show up. But if that works, you wouldn't want to leave those settings once you leave Gameboomers.

I don't get them either way. It depends on what browser you are using. If you use Firefox, it doesn't have quite the tight security of Chrome and Edge. I don't get them with DuckDuckGo either.

I'm using Opera, and cannot see the images either way
 Edit:
I tried using Vivaldi, which I have installed, but have never actually used - and the images DO appear.

 Edit again:
Tried Firefox and the pics DO show up.
Tried Edge (which I don't use) and no images this time

Thanks, Tally Ho! We had this discussion some time ago and that pretty much parallels what was said. It's all about the security settings in the new browsers. We talked to our tech guy and his suggestion was something that would have had to be set up in our board software 20 years ago. I've tried to reverse engineer it with no luck. We HAVE found a work around which, while time intensive, works, so in the future we will be using that format. But we can't go back to all those wonderful old walkthroughs and "fix" them. A shame, but that's the way it is.
Marian, know what I thought when all this first came up? How much we miss Jenny100! I don't know if she would have been able to figure it out, but I'm going to bet she would have!

I did a little experiment with a few browsers. Testest them all with Shadow Ranch. Here's my results:AVG: Won't show images
 Avast: Won't show images
 Brave: Won't show images
 Chrome: Won't show images
 Edge: Won't show images
 Firefox: Will show images
 Maxthon: Will show images
 Opera: Won't show images

With all of that said, Firefox and Maxthon are both not based on Chrome's system...so it's intriguing that those are the 2 of those I tested (temporarily installed some for the test) that show the photos. I know Opera is also not Chrominium based, I did test it with Opera One, and that didn't show the photos. I did install Opera GX, just to see, and that one doesn't show the photos either (which makes sense, Opera being Opera)

Interesting. In our original discussion, someone said they reduced the security settings in their browser and then the images showed up. Maybe it was Brave... can't remember for sure.

that is interesting. I tried that with Opera, images also didn't show still. So I was curious. I loaded the walkthrough for Shadow Ranch in Chrome and right-clicked an image and selected show image. that didn't show the images (even witha refresh). So I right-clicked again and selected Open image in new tab (this only loaded the main GB website) ~ BUT if you right-click and copy image link then paste that into the new tab, the image show
