Great to start the new week with WADDB. Finally pleasant weather again. 17 Celsius and sunshine.

Plans for today? Got inspired by the music thread. Will listen search my ancient CDs for some Louise Hoffsten blues. Local talented singer with decades as artist. Still going strong but slowed down by MS. The disease, not the OS manufacturer.

Good morning everyone! It's been a crazy busy stretch of work for me, but as school winds down I lose two clients for the summer and that gives me more breathing room in my day. Just one more week to go!

My car decided to continue it's journey to death on me so an emergency vehicle purchase happened Friday night. While I dread the payments again it was necessary to be able to work, I am loving my new Outback.

It's yet another cold and very windy day and I'm starting to wonder if we'll ever get any summer. Dude won't go out when it's this windy so he's racing up and down the hallway like a mad thing and almost tripped me just now. I'm having a nice coffee and contemplating the day, which may include a trip to Costco if I can stand it. I tend to drive north to Comox instead of going to the local Nanaimo Costco because the latter is a horrible old building with a really nasty, congested parking lot.

Good Monday morning! I don't think I've EVER worn a sweatshirt on Memorial Day! It's 60 degrees F and quite breezy. The break room is looking nice and spiffy!

I wondered if you were going to get a break once schools were out, Ana. I hope my little 22 year old pickup will keep on trucking for a long time yet! Sounds like your new Outback is going to be well-worth it.

Hagatha, there is nothing like a cold windy day to make you feel like staying home under a blanket!

We are heading in town a little later for the Memorial Day remembrances at our American Legion Post. Take a moment today to thank those who gave their lives for our country today.

Good Tuesday morning! Still kind of chilly and cloudy, but at least the wind isn't blowing. It's supposed to warm up into the 80's by next weekend. I'll send some of that your way, Gerry!

Just got a call from a former co-worker. John and I were in our 50's and all our other co-workers were the age of our kids, so he and I struck up a close friendship. Memorial Day is always rough for him as he was the only survivor of a mortar attack on a tank during the Viet Nam war. He was telling me he is going through old pictures trying to make a family tree and how difficult it is the further he goes back because there are virtually no records for black people. A great way to start my morning as while I don't miss work, I do miss my friends from work!

Good morning everyone.

Enjoying my nice coffee and waiting for a call from a Clinical Pharmacist, as my doctor is away. The blood pressure meds worked like a charm for my BP but caused a couple of rare and serious side effects, so we're back to square 1. Here in Canada pharmacists are allowed to prescribe for many ailments, and this is one of them. It makes sense; they know more about medications than just about anyone. It makes it easier for people like me who have extremely busy doctors.

The new lawn is looking good. We've had so much rain that I haven't had to water it since the first two days after planting. Even so, water restrictions are in effect so I've had to renew my watering permit. I've managed to get most of the herbs planted in sunny spots and I'm debating whether to put the rest in large pots.

One thing I love about my place is the bird song in the garden and in the neighbourhood at large. Because of the pond I have many visitors. Also, I have a frog. It chirps away after dusk and through the night. I was worried that Dude would hunt it but so far both cats are giving it a wide berth.

Good Wednesday morning! Starting to warm up a little - I'll try to send a little your way, Gerry! We've actually gone 4 days without rain, although it did drizzle long enough to get the sidewalks wet late last night.

Hubby has an appointment with his knee surgeon this morning. I assume they will decide if he is able to have the left knee done.

Nice for Soot and Connie to have relaxing vacations!

Just a grocery store run in town and some weeding later today.

I'm guzzling down some coffee so I'm awake enough to get to Pilates. It's going to be a hot day, I think, with the sun already beaming down.

Had to go to the funeral for my great niece this morning. My niece adopted her out of the foster care system when she was just a few years old. She was born to a drug addict and alcoholic and had profound health issues and had undergone multiple surgeries before she was even a year old. But she and her mom struggled through the challenges and she completed high school and got an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education. There was a large group from her job with Discovery School for children with social and emotional challenges. Angel was only 25, but she touched many, many lives.

So young, Drac. My condolences.

Good Friday morning! Sunshine and temps finally warming up into the 80's. Will send some of this your way, Gerry!

Hagatha, I was wondering if they finally got you a BP medication that works without side effects? Hubby's surgeon tried Celebrex for his chronic pain issues, but unfortunately he got every single one of the side effects, so there goes that idea.

Making up a batch of chicken and rice dog food for Bella the Bloodhound. I cannot get her to eat any dog food at all - been through 3 different ones. She had a small blockage a few weeks ago, but was able to pass it herself. Vet put her on a course of antibiotics. Hoping I don't have to take her back in - she is 7 years old, but that is getting pretty old for a Bloodhound. The giant breeds generally don't live much past 10.

Draclvr, I'm so very sorry to hear of your great-niece's death. So young.

I have not been given another BP medication yet. My Doctor is away right now. The clinical pharmacist sent recommendations to my GP's office so that one of the other doctors can prescribe something in his absence. I've put a call in to the office but I'm not likely to hear back until Monday at the earliest.

My two favourite dogs of all time were both Rhodesian Ridgebacks owned by friends in Hope. Maxwell, forever the dog of my heart, died at 8 of diabetes complications. Maddy, the sweetest girl on Earth, made it to 12, which is pretty good for a large dog. I still miss them both.

Good Saturday morning! Since it started warming up, I think my little tomato plants have grown a foot!

Fixed hubby's big breakfast and now am going to kick back with a cup of WADDB. Then I'll head out to deal with weeds.

It odd to see only a few hummingbirds, but they are now nesting and raising the first bunch of baby hummers. In about 3 weeks they will be back with a vengeance!

Good Sunday morning! Sunny and warm again today.

Enjoying my WADDB before I get started on the day. More weeding of course, but also helping hubby get the pool open. I didn't know if he was going to try this year because of the knee surgery. I have to help get the cover off which means I have to get on my knees, but as long as I take a couple of pads out there, it works.

It's a lovely sunny day, so I'm going to pack up some items to return to Costco and other places, drive into Staples and drop off the courier packages, and then drive up the coast to Comox, or perhaps take a drive up Mt. Washington to see if the sub-alpine trail is open yet.

I'm doing okay, Gerry. Thank you for asking. I just don't have much to post about but I am here with you all everyday.

Yes, Gerry, got that pool cover off without me falling in which is always a plus! He's filling it now as we have to drain the water out in the fall to be below the pump, so it doesn't freeze it up.

Got a call at 7:30 last night and had to run down and close the Ranch last night at 9:00. Only 3 to feed in one barn and Bubbles in the other one. Bubbles is a Zebu - sort of a small Brahma cow - and was in the petting zoo at the St. Louis Zoo for many year. At age 20, she was retired out to Longmeadow. Have to close for 4 days over this coming weekend too.

Welcome home, Connie! No matter how enjoyable a trip is, there is nothing like getting back home.

Oldbroad I can relate to internet problems...I am literally at the end of the line in the country and waiting for fiber optic cable to replace the copper connections! The phone company is no longer doing maintenance on the copper cable...only if I report a trouble!

Lex many years ago my son had a school project where he had to put a song to a photo album...he used "Country Roads" by John Denver to go with the photos he took from our "country roads"...he won first place!

Maybe a day to take off from walking soot.?

Good dreary morning! We've been having that light rain here too. We had the fire smoke last week.

I would swear my brother came up and knocked on my bedroom door to get me up, but he says no, and it isn't really something he would do so I don't know what I heard. Last night I was hearing noises while I was still up sitting at my computer, but that is not unusual. I used to think some of them were the cats but I still hear them so I guess they are just house noises, or maybe ghostly visitors.

My 100+ year old farmhouse makes noises too, oldbroad! I've grown used to them over the last 32 years! Although, I have do doubt I had "visitors" at one point when I was caring for my 2nd husband before he passed away of colon cancer. Once I heard footsteps on the stairs and there was no one else in the house besides us and he was asleep. Another time some items on a wall flew off and landed across the room. For 3 days after he passed, the cat was terrified to come out from under the bed!

Good Thursday morning! Rain finally stopped, but it is really muddy out there, so no work in the gardens.

Our granddaughter is in an Intelligence unit in the Army. She got married while she and her fiance were deployed to Poland. He is from Puerto Rico and has two littles from his first marriage. They have them here in the States for a couple of months this summer. So, my DIL flew down there to take care of the kids for a week while they were at their Army jobs. She said NOW she understands why you have children when you are young and not when you are in your 50's! They are 6 and 4 and just adorable. Luckily they both speak some English! We get to meet them this summer and I can't wait.

Good Friday morning! Gee, imagine that - another thunderstorm and more rain last night. The poor farmers around here can't get their crops in or any hay baled.

Had to run Bella the Bloodhound in to the vet this morning. She stopped eating again - even the chicken, rice and carrots I pressure cooked for her. Vet took more X-rays and this time thinks we may be dealing with a tumor. They have an ultrasound company come out every week and we are going to have that done and then decide where to go from there.

Unfortunately, Bella is not better today and is still not eating. My friend who retired as a vet tech told me the giant breeds like Bloodhounds don't live very long and this is not uncommon as they get older. Bella is 7 which is starting to get elderly for a Bloodhound. We'll see what they find on the ultrasound Monday, but I'm not hopeful.

Even sadder is that a neighbor who just lives about a quarter mile east of us shot and killed herself yesterday. She was maybe in her late 50's. Don't know anything about it except that it is sadder than sad.

Good Sunday morning! It actually hasn't rained in almost 12 hours! I'm doing the night closing at Longmeadow and it was drizzling on me about 10:00 last night, but the sun is out today and it could hit the mid-80's. Our grass is so tall, we may have to bale it!

I sure hope hagatha checks in soon. I sent her an email to her personal email this afternoon hoping all is well with her.

Gonna stack these in case you have already read my last post.

Hagatha is doing fine and just taking a mental health break from the internet and the horrendous news down here every day. She is gaming on her Steam Deck and her new BP med is working great with no side effects.

Connie, if you don't already have the game from Steam, I announced in the Casual forum that Hero of the Kingdom: The Lost Tales 3 has been released on Big Fish. I know you love this series.

Good Monday afternoon! Sounds like the break room smelled heavenly today...

Just talked to the vet. The news we expected, but didn't want. Bella has a mass in her liver which is pressing on her spleen. It is not operable. Vet was surprised that she was pretty happy wagging her tail and making friends with everyone and not in any discomfort. He suggested putting her on prednisone to help perk up her appetite and maybe even potentially shrink a tumor slightly and just letting it play out. They have all been rough and so hard to lose, but Bella is going to be particularly hard.

Not good news at all, Drac.

Send some of that bacon and cinnamon toast over please. Sounds real good!

Drac, ask your vet if she will prescribe Fenbendazole for your pup. It's been quite successful on people and dogs for shrinking tumors and curing cancer.

Good Tuesday morning! Cool this morning, but a nice sunny day ahead. Hoping it has dried out enough for me to work outside some more.

Now that the chickens are rehomed, I'm having someone come out and spread mulch for me. With all this rain, I simply cannot keep up with the weeds.

It poured yesterday morning...started while I was coming back from my walk with my neighbor and friend...we got soaked! Got home and noticed my gutters were overflowing...I think all the maple tree seeds this spring clogged them...I will have to get them cleaned out. Always up keep with a house!

Hey, Diego! Just heard from LadyK that the AG forum may have been a victim of the same attack that happened to Mystery Manor a week or so ago. AI is spamming forums with thousands of "guests" which knocks them down. She has been unable to get in touch with Ivo to see what happened.
