Yeah, I'm only running one level of Fighter, mainly to get access to better weapons and armor while seeing how the Hexblade progresses. Given the new weapon attacks, with the right armor and buffs they can become sort of tank like. Although, it seems like I hit the same issue as with any Warlock build. Even though you can recharge your spell slots with a short rest, in combat they run out of special attacks pretty quickly due to the low number of spell slots. That said, if you have a really good weapon, and a decent shield with some good defensive or reaction perks, Pact of the Blade can keep a Warlock in melee pretty well due to using the Charisma modifier for damage.

Hey TM,
Before I announced that patch I looked through this thread up to the date the patch was announced. When I did not see it here I posted it. How I missed your thread announcing the patch is beyond me. Maybe I need a new pair of glasses.
Thank you for bringing your thread to my attention and you are welcome
Have a good day Trail

That was my bad. I should have joined the topics awhile ago (which I only just did, finally, yay ), but got too caught up in gaming. Way to much fun trying the new sub-classes. Have to say, I didn't think that BG3 would hold my attention as long as it has. Been a minute since I've had a game to obsess about. Really liking that Hexblade subclass so far. Planning to invest more into Arcane Archer soon. Might try a bard class just to experience the class specific dialogue. Bard has never been a priority choice of mine for these types of games. Probably because I'm a horrible singer IRL. Edit: One thing I missed with the Hexblade subclass is that we may not need to multi-class with fighter unless you really want that extra turn that comes with a second level fighter or would like to experiment with an Arcane Archer hybrid. One of the features of the Hexblade is being able to use medium armor, shields and most martial weapons including long swords. Seems like Larian saw what folks were doing with Warlock multi-classes and modded the class to accommodate. It's kind of a weird class/sub-class, you could go either way as a tank, ranged fighter/magic user or a hybrid. I did re-spec my 10th level "Tav" as a Hexblade, but haven't fully flushed out his skillz yet. Decided to start one from the beginning to see how they evolve over time.

I think my game is cursed.
My Steam Deck has a game save from wayyyy back, although it says that cloud saves are synced, and the game on my PC, where the most recent saves should be, won't launch. It just won't launch. Steam thinks the game is running. And maybe it is running, in a galaxy far, far away. But it's not running on my computer.
Oddly. my computer thinks it's running, too, because the fans are gearing up. But no game is anywhere in sight.
EDIT: Steam was trying to cast the game somewhere else. Who knows where. It's all good now, except that it doesn't start normally. There's a little icon that pops up at the bottom of my screen now that links to the .exe file. Wierd. But working.

Sounds like some kind of device integration issues that's on the Steam side. They probably have some kind of wireless connection conflict that's causing the software to glitch when trying to detect which session you're playing on. Might want to send that over to Valve, although I'm guessing you aren't the first to find that feature.
On to BG3. I was having a great time with my Sorcerer/Warlock hybrid that I haven't given my pure Hexblade any love in awhile. So, I'm jumping back and forth between him and a redo of my Cleric of Selune. I'm not a big fan of Clerics either, but since Selune is such a huge part of the game, I thought it could be fun to go that route.
I've also started a "Dark Urge" character, though I changed them up from the suggested "Dragonborn" character to my go to Drow. This is the first time that I tried a game driven character and so far it's been very interesting. Especially with this one due to their condition ("Haunted") the narration, being your intrusive thoughts, are quite immersive albeit really creepy.

It's been a while since I played, so it'll take me a day or so to get back in the swing of things. It sounds as though the new subclasses are pretty cool. EDIT: Oh shoot. Everything is hunky-dory on both Steam Deck and laptop, so I fired up my game, and my last save is literally right before a fight starts in my camp and I can't remember the controls on my Steam Deck.

I get that too after being away from a game for a bit. Usually happens with Military combat style games, I invariably throw a grenade while just trying to change my weapon. I've been cycling between my Cleric and Dark Urge characters, talk about a dichotomy The Dark Urge character is hard to get used to. If I'm playing an evil character, they are usually lawful evil, or thoughtful, trying to play it smart, but not chaotic. The Dark Urge is the opposite, total chaotic evil. Don't know if you've played it yet so, I won't go into too much detail, but the introduction scene with Gale can go a whole lot different than any prior characters. Shockingly different.

I decided to take a dive into the companion/origin characters so, started Lae'zel as a player character. As expected, the intro was modified to accommodate. Although I do miss her bada** flip through the air, parallel to the dragon flying over when you first meet her. Always thought that was the coolest of entrances for a new character. It will be interesting to see how her personal quest and origin impact gameplay from that/her perspective.

I've never been able to be an evil character in a BG game. I started one in BG a couple of time so I could use Edwin through the game but when the stores got more expensive and guards started attacking I decided it was no use.
It never occurred to me to use one of the companions as the PC.
I've been away from serious gaming a bit lately. It'll be good to get back to it once I've plowed my way through the next few weeks of stuff.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Once I finish the playthrough with Lae'zel, next one I'm going to try will be Shadowheart. Considering the way she's found on board the Nautiloid, I figured it would be interesting how they handle the intro with her as player character. I also want to take down that Devil, Commander Zhalk on the helm to get his flaming sword if that's possible. Every playthrough so far I've been experimenting with what does the most damage to him before we get to the Transponder. Seems that Necrotic and Spiritual damage may be the keys to his demise. In one playthrough we got really close without really trying by hitting him with guiding bolt and a follow up with a necrotic spell. If I recall correctly upon examining him with the right click function, I think he's resistant to most everything else (all damage is halved). From what I've read though, you have to do it before the other two Cambions reach the helm, otherwise the battle becomes nearly impossible, not to mention the 12 turn limitation before the ship crashes. I thing he's also worth a good chunk of XP too. EDIT: Well, that was surprisingly easier than I thought it was going to be. Used a Death Domain Cleric and while Shadowheart, myself and Us lobbed spells and melee at Zhalk, (who only fights with the Mind Flayer until it's dead) I moved Lae'zel forward towards the transponder so she could trigger the cut scene before the other Cambrions get to us. Worked out good. Guiding Bolt, Inflict Wounds, Toll the Dead and Sacred Flame worked great to chip away at his health. Shadowheart was also able to push him off balance, so I think a good amount of winning right off the bat was literally a "roll of the dice" Here are Zhalk's Greatsword stats from Lairan: The Everburn Blade is an uncommon greatsword that deals 2d6 (2-12) slashing damage plus 1d4 (1-4) fire damage. It also adds your Strength modifier to the damage roll. It is a two-handed weapon with a +6 to hit bonus. The flames on the blade surge as soon as it's drawn. So, it's strength based like every other greatsword. I was hoping it was a long sword and he was just wielding it two-handed. Edit 2: Yup, it was luck the first time Tried a couple other classes and got knocked out by a Cambion each time. On a positive note I found out that if your character goes down, but the other party members are still viable and make it to the transponder, your health is restored just prior to the crash cut scene. Your spells and special abilities on the other hand are not. Also found out you can use Command to get Zhalk to drop his weapon and can use that to kill him as well.
