Skywind Gameplay DemoJust an update on the group's progress and a nice quick quest run to demo their skill. Looks wonderful so far. Most of our forum's population is already aware of this effort, but for those of you who aren't, this description from the video describes it nicely: Skywind is a volunteer-run, total conversion mod that aims to recreate The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (2002) in the Skyrim: Special Edition engine, with new assets, updated graphics, and fully voice acted. For anyone who would like continued updates, you can subscribe to the TESR Elder Scrolls YouTube channel here: TESR Skywind YouTubeYou can also visit the TESR Skywind WebpageTM

Morrowind is by far my favourite ES game and it's high time it got some love. I'm looking forward to this.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Trail_Mystic I watched the Skywind demo on utube...excellent. Some of the opening scenes remind me of Myst even though they are a dark environment and as the demo continued I was reminded of earlier Tomb Raider games that I so still love to play. Thanks for sharing it does look great! Gerry

The same people also made Morroblivion, which I've played. It's Morrowind recreated with Oblivion's engine. Yeah, I downloaded the files for that in the early days and never started the game, imagine that. I'm glad they're recreating it in the available Skyrim engine. Given their experience with Morroblivion I have high hopes. Morrowind holds a special place in my gamer heart. It was the game that brought me back to PC RPG's. I had played most of the old "gold box" D&D games on my Commodore 64, plus a bunch of other text based games on my first IBM PC. Then I got caught up in school/work and only did Adventure games for a good while, not sure why to be honest. Started communicating on this forum and I think it was Mad who mentioned Morrowind and got me interested.

I'd played virtually all adventure games for the first years of my gaming, starting with the old Infocom games (Zork) and then Myst. I took a chance on Thief and BG because both were at that time on sale, then I played Deus Ex, which was a revelation. Morrowind came quickly after. I remember that I had to tweak my computer settings to get it work properly, it was such an advanced game.
Morrowind has such a weird and wonderful setting. I love how hard you have to work to find things, and how hard it is to get to the point where you can actually fast travel. And you have to actually be worthy of running the various Guilds instead of just running a few errands for them and getting promoted to the top without actual skill. And then there's the flying...
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Cliff Racers were my bane (and I think most others too) until I got levitation and could hurl fire balls at them on their level or above. THAT was satisfying. I wonder if they kept the caterpillar (kwama forager) that killed me minutes after the game intro.

And then there's the falling cow...
I think the very first mod I ever used on a game was the mod that removes the cliff racers, or at least it cut them down by about 80%.
I can't hear the theme music without a pang of nostalgia.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Hagatha I remember playing Thief. I thought it was a pretty good game...I still have it somewhere. I've got lots of the old games on dvds in the original boxes they came in and an old computer I can still play them on. Gerry

I played Thief up until about six or seven years ago. It has finally lost its charms, I'm afraid, and the newer games just weren't as good as Thief 1 and Thief 2.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

I only have the first 2 Thief games Hagatha. I should see if they still can be played...they were fun...had a few issues running if I recall...but I did enjoy them. Gerry
