This picks up from an earlier thread inviting you all to post likes, dislikes and anything else you want in terms of audio influences: is a particular type of music or any other soundscape (stories read aloud, plays on the radio, birdsong...) important to you, and if so what is it? For me it is music, usually somewhere in the blues, country rock and/or folk spectrum, but not classical (despite the best efforts of my parents) or jazz. The steady favourites among many others and in no particular order are the likes of the Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Tom Petty (RIP), John Fogerty, Cowboy Junkies, Dave Matthews, Eric Church, Eric Bibb, Amos Lee, Alison Krauss, Emily Barker, Gretchen Peters, Margo Price and Tift Merritt all forming part of over 80gb of music on my old iPod on random/shuffle (so that I can never be sure what will come next). Not sure what they all have in common, but it may be great guitar work and strong vocals, harking back to early Cliff Richard backed by the Shadows! I was always too lazy to make much progress on playing any musical instrument myself (despite trying piano, oboe and guitar) but I got as far as being a DJ with my own sound system and light show mainly at private parties for a few years a lifetime ago - and what a blast that was... To get us going, here is a nice little feel-good set from Eric Bibb last year which I stumbled across and enjoyed yesterday and posted at the end of the previous thread https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRjFtLIzyOM&t=201sTV and film soundtracks are often an introduction to unfamiliar material and the recent TV series I, Jack Wright (which is worth a look anyway) is a case in point https://soundtrackost.com/i-jack-wr...rack-every-song-in-episode-1-8211-s01e01Of course, if you are not already a fan, the TV series Yellowstone has a stunning musical selection as well as being compulsive viewing https://www.nme.com/news/tv/every-song-yellowstone-soundtrack-3360958

Cowboy Junkies can do no wrong in my book and this cover of a Townes Van Zandt came up on my random selection as I made my way back from the excitement of today's supermarket run https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=dWYVA9IGD8E - enjoy!

Man, I haven't heard this one in a long time! But I agree THIS is how I feel these days too. We don't know what fresh hell we will wake up to every day lately.
Did you see the 60 Minutes section they did on Byrne? It was so interesting.

I haven't seen the show on Byrne. He's quite the character. The Talking Heads were played a lot in one of the pubs at York U. Don't worry about me. I'm like a cockroach -- I always survive.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Hope the TT went well Lex I wouldn't have said I was a generic Cowboy Junkies fan but their Trinity Sessions album is amazing, as is Caution Horses. I might have to expose myself to a bit more of their catalogue. I lean towards New Wave but as I get older I find my taste gets more eclectic. Anything live is also pretty much fair game (and Muse remains a standout). A little known fact is that I have playlists of just a single song. I like how different arrangements can make the song feel completely different, and yet it isn't. If You Go Away, While My Guitar Gently Weeps and Pale Blue Eyes are three favourites. Here are some from the last of those three (the last one is audio only), including a live version by the 'owner' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDZVszRrPXEhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWFgGxe-CjIhttps://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2p97flhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90HKC8JVMM0

Flotsam, my Spotify playlist has multiple versions of several songs. Notable among them is Neil Young's Hey, Hey, My, My.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Everyone who sings that song seems to change the words a bit.
