Syberia Remastered: The return of an adventure game classic. Benoît Sokal’s masterpiece is coming back to life in a fully modernized edition, set for release in late 2025.
Check out the game here. Paris, May 20, 2025 – Microids is thrilled to announce the development of a complete remaster of the iconic Syberia, the cult adventure game imagined by Benoît Sokal and originally released in 2002.
Following on from the internationally acclaimed remake of L'Amerzone – The Explorer’s Legacy, this latest announcement marks a key step in the rebirth of Sokal's unique universe of visual poetry, spellbinding storytelling and dreamlike exploration. A timeless adventure, enhanced for a new generation Developed in close collaboration by Virtuallyz Gaming and Microids Studio Paris, Syberia Remastered will give players the chance to experience the unforgettable story of Kate Walker, a New York lawyer thrown into the middle of an unexpected journey across Europe. Following in the footsteps of Hans Voralberg, she encounters memorable characters in melancholy and mysterious settings. This remaster aims to restore all the emotional and artistic power of the original work, while meeting today's technical standards. To guarantee a faithful, modernized experience, Syberia Remastered benefits from a complete graphical overhaul, exploiting the capabilities of today's devices to enhance environments, characters and animations. A virtual reality version in development! As part of this ambitious overhaul, Microids is also announcing the development of an exclusive virtual reality version of Syberia, specially designed for Meta Quest 3. Syberia VR will enable players to fully immerse themselves in Benoît Sokal's unique universe, exploring the game's iconic environments as never before. Conceived from the beginning as an experience in its own right, this version will offer an unprecedented narrative approach, while remaining faithful to the spirit of the original work. The first images and information will be revealed in the coming months "Syberia is much more than a game – it's an initiatory journey, an unforgettable sensory and emotional experience. With this remaster, we want a new generation to rediscover this adventure, while offering historical fans a sublimated version respectful of Benoît Sokal's legacy.” - Elliot Grassiano, founder of Microids Syberia Remastered is currently in production and is set to release in late 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. The Quest 3 version will launch simultaneously. Add the game to your wishlist on Steam and PlayStation Store. Happy Gaming!

REALLY! This is fantastic! My opinion one of the best adventure games ever created. This remaster will be well worth another play There is mention of a VR version. Being able to walk around in Syberia will be a real treat. The environments themselves surrounding Syberia will be something to behold, I have always liked the architecture in the Siberia's. Coming face to face with Author standing next to him.......now that will be cool However played this remaster should be very good. Hopefully Syberia 2 remaster is in the works Thank you Ana, what a nice surprise
It's never too late!

This announcement surprises me mostly because I have long believed that Syberia is as close too visual perfection as a game can get. However, I will absolutely be among the first to buy the new version and find out what has been improved. Like Orion, I too have a choice for what they should "Remaster" next. Paradise is, in my opinion, Benoît Sokal's most under-rated game. I'd love to see, and would purchase, a remastered version of that one.
If all the people were heroes, there would be no one to watch the parades.

I have long believed that Syberia is as close too visual perfection as a game can get. Like Orion, I too have a choice for what they should "Remaster" next. Paradise is, in my opinion, Benoît Sokal's most under-rated game. I completely agree, The Haze, and looking at the video of the remaster I don't feel there is much difference. I was in awe of the visuals when Syberia first released and still am. I am not much into 3rd Person Adventures but the way they improved on how a PC character (Kate) looked, walked, ran, and climbed stairs drew me in as the most life like of the adventure game era. I particularly liked how Kate would come to a sliding stop when running, I made her do that so many times just because I liked watching her do it. It took me a lot of deliberation with myself to justify spending $40 on Amerzone's remaster when it would essentially be a re-play of game from long ago. I would expect at least a brand new game for that much. That being said, I did bend and played the new Amerzone again, I will admit I enjoyed the nostalgic replay. I am not so sure I will delve into a Syberia re-master game as I have played it so many times before and like, The Haze, says it is so close to visual perfection in their first go. Plus I am guessing that if Amerzone went for $40 a Syberia remaster will go for the same or more. I also enjoyed Paradise like The Haze and would like to see what a remaster of that would look like as the cliff hanger ending still has not been revealed to me at all. Surely there must be other titles in the Microids Library of games besides Benoit Sokals that would be worth a remastering but I can't get my mind to remembering any off the top of my head without researching ...how about you...have any ideas?
