Paris, May 20, 2025 – Microids is thrilled to announce the development of a complete remaster of the iconic Syberia, the cult adventure game imagined by Benoît Sokal and originally released in 2002.

Following on from the internationally acclaimed remake of L'Amerzone – The Explorer’s Legacy, this latest announcement marks a key step in the rebirth of Sokal's unique universe of visual poetry, spellbinding storytelling and dreamlike exploration.

A timeless adventure, enhanced for a new generation
Developed in close collaboration by Virtuallyz Gaming and Microids Studio Paris, Syberia Remastered will give players the chance to experience the unforgettable story of Kate Walker, a New York lawyer thrown into the middle of an unexpected journey across Europe. Following in the footsteps of Hans Voralberg, she encounters memorable characters in melancholy and mysterious settings. This remaster aims to restore all the emotional and artistic power of the original work, while meeting today's technical standards.
To guarantee a faithful, modernized experience, Syberia Remastered benefits from a complete graphical overhaul, exploiting the capabilities of today's devices to enhance environments, characters and animations.

A virtual reality version in development!

As part of this ambitious overhaul, Microids is also announcing the development of an exclusive virtual reality version of Syberia, specially designed for Meta Quest 3. Syberia VR will enable players to fully immerse themselves in Benoît Sokal's unique universe, exploring the game's iconic environments as never before. Conceived from the beginning as an experience in its own right, this version will offer an unprecedented narrative approach, while remaining faithful to the spirit of the original work. Syberia Remastered is currently in production and is set to release in late 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.

I have long believed that Syberia is as close too visual perfection as a game can get. Like Orion, I too have a choice for what they should "Remaster" next. Paradise is, in my opinion, Benoît Sokal's most under-rated game.
