Brighton, UK – 18 June 2024: The wait is over – Still Wakes the Deep, the narrative horror from award-winning developer The Chinese Room and publisher Secret Mode, is now available on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation®5 (PS5™).

Set aboard an oil rig in the North Sea in 1975, Still Wakes the Deep has players fighting for their lives while they're stalked by an unknowable horror that has come aboard. As Cameron "Caz" McLeary, players will navigate the collapsing rig, desperately searching for a way home in The Chinese Room’s most anticipated game since the multiple BAFTA-award winning Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture in 2015.

Still Wakes the Deep is available from today for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5. It is also available with Game Pass for console and PC. A physical PS5 release is available now from all good retailers.

About Still Wakes the Deep

Still Wakes the Deep is a return to the first-person narrative horror genre from The Chinese Room, creator of critically acclaimed games such as Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, and Dear Esther.

You are an off-shore oil rig worker, fighting for your life through a vicious storm, perilous surroundings, and the dark, freezing North Sea waters. All lines of communication have been severed. All exits are gone. All that remains is to face the unknowable horror that’s come aboard.

Happy Gaming!

Thank you Ana

I have been waiting for this to release. This looks really good to me. After checking out this 9 min review I went and picked it up on Steam. These oil rigs are something to behold. In my younger years I worked on one as a welder for a short period of time so I have interest in it. Detail of the rig is very good, very real. In some ways Still Wakes the Deep reminds me of Soma having to run, maybe hide to escape death from something. Looking forward to finding out and exploring the rig

Had to give this game up as I couldn't get past the helicopter jump scene about two thirds through the game. It requires a lot of manual dexterity - too much for my fingers. Shame as I was enjoying it up to then.

I did oldbroad and enjoyed it

You use a combination of the keyboard and the mouse. You get help with both, what keys and/or what mouse buttons to use will appear on the screen in certain situations. Some situations are timed but are not a serious problem. You will die at times coming back to life in the same location to give it another try

The game runs on objectives. When you finish an objective the next one appears top left of screen for a short time. I missed the second objective concentrating on a different side of the screen forcing me to start the game over. There is an option to have the current objective remain on the screen. I turned it on not wanting to miss another

The game autosaves. An icon appears bottom right. Chapters become available as you move along. You also have a "Resume" that picks up where you left off

The oil rig is huge. Getting around the rig takes some doing

Some of the characters have a very strong accents. They were hard to understand at times. The subtitles were a must show for me. You can modify the subtitles in options - font, letterbox and colors. First time I have seen this

There are many options to play with. You can adjust settings in the options that will make challenges easier throughout Still Wakes the Deep

I enjoyed the story and how it played out. I am considering "Siren’s Rest" for one more visit

Thanks for all those details, Orion! I'm glad you enjoyed the game so much and I think you ought to go ahead and get Siren's Rest! smile
