Hi.

I found details of the Exorcist games - discussed here at GB - really tempting.

And would like to ask if anyone has been able to play them in Win10 ??

Thanks.

Mad 😊

EDIT :
I forgot to add that ALL my games from Big Fish - even the oldest - have played alright on WIN10.
But I don't want to buy all three in the Exorcist series and then find they don't eek

I can't answer this from experience as I haven't played the games yet and I have them installed on my Win 7 computer, but Marian is playing the second game and I think she might be in Win 11, or at least Win 10. I'm sure she'll respond tomorrow.

Hi Mad, Exorcist II ran fine for me on Windows 10. I can't say for sure about the other two because I don't have them (although I will probably end up getting them in the future, now that I enjoyed the second one as much as I did). I think 8dognight liked the second one the best of the three, although I think she did play them all. I agree with what she had to say about the second one in the Reviews and Recommendations thread.

Of note, I did just find one place online where they were selling all three games as a bundle and it does say that it supports Windows 10, but I of course can't deny or confirm for sure about the first and third games. Not yet, anyway. smile

Sometimes when I am looking at old games I sort the reviews to "newest" to see if three is any mention of the game not working on Win 10 (or working), or if there are sort of recent reviews that I'll AS*ume were played on Win 10 (though I do know that may not be the case).

Those are good ideas, ob. I have done the same thing myself in the past (knowing that this is not foolproof, of course, and just because one person has had issues with Windows 10 and a game it does not necessarily follow that everyone will).

The only game so far that I have come across that is truly dead in the water on Windows 10 is Mystery Case Files: Dire Grove. But my son had that up and running on Windows 10/11 in about 35 minutes using Virtual Box. Yes, he comes in very handy!

laugh Not just any old one, though. Make sure it's a nerdy/techie one.

This reminds me of when my son was about a year old and I was standing in line at the grocery checkout with him sitting in the front of the grocery cart. An elderly man behind me pointed at my son and asked me how much he cost and what aisle he could be found in so he could get one too. Really cute. smile

mad mad mad

I bought all three Exorcist games today but only two of them subsequently appeared in my Purchase History.
["Exorcist 3" isn't there !!]

So I've had to put in a Big Fish Help Request.

EDIT :

Excellent news in that my request for help was immediately answered.

I had to uninstall Game Manager (again !!) then re-install it (again !!) but after that, the missing game magically appeared wink

I'm glad it got sorted out so quickly. I have a note on my games list that the third game is under "I" for Inception.

If I look at the download page for Inception of Darkness: Exorcist III, the actual picture of the game to the left of the title says Exorcist III: Inception of Darkness. Maybe Big Fish just chose to reverse the title for whatever reason. This may have even been a mistake.

I agree, Marian, and think that may be why No.3 didn’t get dealt with in the normal way - by going straight to Purchase History - like the other two ….

Well I have a much worse issue now ....

When I ordered the three Exorcist games I did notice that they were intended for Win7 - but as I have so many really old games that play just fine in Win10, I disregarded that snippet of info and went ahead and bought them.

And then found that none of them would play eek

They all install OK but won't play.

So I contacted Big Fish in the hope they would grant a refund.

But it's not looking likely. They want me to "test this that and the other". But I'm not prepared to alter any Windows settings. I'm not confidant enough !!

So I've now asked if I can exchange the games for others of equal value .. and am currently awaiting a reply .. about which I'm not hopeful.

Badly fed up !! slapforehead

Mad, I am with you on not changing Windows settings and trying this and that but is it just maybe a matter of trying a different compatibility?

I really hope that you can get this straightened out, preferably by being able to actually play the games.

That is a shame, Mad. As I said before, I had no problem running the second game on my Windows 10 computer. I haven't tried the other two as yet.

However, they should be able to issue you game points for those three games so that you can get three other games instead - and I can't think of any reason why they would not be willing to do this.

I don’t think it’s a compatibility problem as such, oldbroad.
I was asked to “count dots” somewhere and adjust them.

I’ll just have to hope I get the game points offer you mention, Marian 🤞

eek No thank you! laugh I would still try the compatibility anyway. It's easy enough, though I admit, I usually never think to try it when I have a problem.
