Hi there
I am hoping those of you with little'ns and stairs might have some advice.
Our house has a staircase, with a solid wall on one side but not the other. Cylindrical poles with strung wire between them make up the other side.
Having searched the market here, every child gate I have found requires a wall each side in order to provide tension for a gate fitted in between. When I visited a large local chain of baby shops and explained my issue, the person said no one had ever raised the matter as to what to do, whilst conceding that many people must have the same issue. So that was no help.
Pet barriers offer a possible solution (there are some that are freestanding), but the ones I have sourced can probably be pulled over or aside by a determined toddler.
My staircase isn't the only staircase in the world built like this, so does anyone know of a product that might work to make the top and bottom secure?
Any and all suggestions welcomed
wave

I've been searching around for a bit and I just can't find anything that doesn't need SOME kind of attachment to both sides. Some are attached with screws to a wall or a post.

What about something like this?

Retractable Baby Gate

I had to put up a pet barrier to keep my 2 pomskies in the kitchen at times. I used hardware to secure the gate to the walls on both sides. Not having a wall on one side and not getting a visual on your poles with strung wire maybe attaching some kind of hardware will solve this problem. Secure the wall side using hardware and tie the other side to the poles(?) if hardware does not work on that side

Hook and Eyes

Bolts

Latches

Its best to attach hardware to a stud in the wall but if you can't you can use anchors to get a secure mount

Amazon carries these as well

We have a wall on one side of our stairs and metal railing on the other and have used an expandable gate and hardware (on the bottom rail post) to "secure" the barrier firmly in place when closed. I am thinking you could do the same with hardwrae on your bottom pole.
think

PS...you can use 'large' zip ties to fasten hardware / expandable type hinge gates to the bottom cylinderical pole
