Good Thursday morning. The WADDB is particularly satisfying this morning. We seem to have gotten some very, very light rain last night. I don't think it amounted to much though.
Our tree trimmer gave us an estimate of $2000 for all the work that needs to be done. In particular one of the electrical lines that comes from the transformer on the road is overgrown with nut tree branches.
League bowling tonight.

Good Morning soot, connie, Fogfighter, Draclvr and everyone. Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready. Soot I hope all goes well with getting everything repaired. Connie congrats on winning a round and a free drink! Must have been fun for Robert too! Fogfighter sounds like a nice temp for a walk. Draclvr your estimate sounds about right for the tree trimming. It cost me over $2,000 to take down one huge maple tree close to the house and leaning toward it. It was dying and needed to come down before it fell. Hope you all enjoy a great Friday! Gerry

T.G.I.F. good morning Connie Fogfighter Gerry Draclvr Hagatha OldBroad and all who follow. Enjoy your manicure Connie. I enjoyed a cool morning walk but not looking forward to this afternoon's temps which may feel like 100+ F. Grocery shopping is on my schedule but will enjoy a cup of WADDB and a bagel first. Enjoy your day everyone ![[Linked Image]](https://www.gameboomers.com/forum/images/graemlins/default_dark/wave2.gif)

Good Friday morning. Just put out another half gallon of sugar water this morning for the remaining hummers. There are fewer every day as the migration is in full swing.
We have a new bowler on our team and she showed up last night because she forgot to check the schedule. So I offered to let her bowl and said I would go home and have a beer on my pool deck. They all said they wanted to come with me! So I sent them a picture of my beer on the table on the deck looking over the pasture. I got some laugh emojis and Doris flipped me off!
So I'm sitting there and up come 4 deer - 3 does and a fawn we call Zoomie. They were heading for the peaches and pears on the ground which is only about 10 feet away. Then I saw a HUGE set of antlers coming up from behind the pond. It was a very big buck and he was followed by two younger bucks with small antlers - maybe 4 - 6 points. The big buck headed right for the mama doe and the two younger bucks were romancing the other does. Zoomie left mama doe and went over by the others. There wasn't any hanky panky under the pear tree, but the fall rut is obviously getting under way!
What a thrill!

Good afternoon everyone.
Alas, Dude caught a lovely male Rufus hummingbird yesterday. I guess I can't have flowers or feeders in my garden. He's just too good a hunter.
My fence keeps the deer mostly at bay but I have to use a deterrent spray to keep them off my green acer in the front. They're everywhere here, too. Fortunately most people are careful driving along our narrow, curvy road, because a deer can pop out of the trees at any moment.
The Stellar sea lions are back and barking away on the haul-outs. Down on the beach you can see them swimming. They are a welcome sight, unless you live close to the haul-out, in which case they're smelly and noisy and unwanted. At my end of the peninsula, they aren't a problem.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Woo Hoo Hoo ... the weekend has arrived. Enjoyed a wonderful walk this morning with the temp hovering at a cool 70. I've always enjoyed wildlife in our yard, at the lake and camping. I imagine the first time you see a haul-out you're in awe. See if you can send your rain this way Fogfighter. Recycles, projects and chores on my agenda today. Have a wonderful day everyone

Good Saturday morning. Hubby's big breakfast done and his son came out to visit for a little bit. He likes to check in on Saturday mornings. I'm enjoying my WADDB before I get the day started. It's cool enough for a sweatshirt this morning.
I have a big bucket of tomatoes with bad spots on them, so I'm going to work them up today. I'll cut out anything bad and throw them all in a big pot to simmer just long enough to get soft. Then I'll run through my magical electric tomato press to get all the seeds and skins out and put it back on the stove to simmer down. I'm making marinara sauce today with lots of fresh garlic, onions and Italian seasonings. Hope to get several quarts.
I got 5 bottles of hot sauce bottled up yesterday. I'll put shrink capsules over the lids and put on my labels today. Will put on another mash of peppers I picked yesterday.

Good morning Gerry, Fogfighter, Draclvr, Connie, Hagatha, OldBroad and all who get the chance to pop in for coffee, treats and a chat. Fogfighter, we got a spinkle or two but think Gerry is getting the bulk of the rain. Will have a quick grocery run today otherwise it's going to be a restful down day. Enjoying a cup of wide awake double dark brew at the moment and looking forward to a bagel or two. Have a wonderful Sunday everyone

Good Sunday morning! Very chilly this morning - 52 degrees F. But sunny and still dry, dry, dry. The WADDB is really hitting the spot this morning. Just put out another half gallon of hummingbird food. I saw maybe 25 out there. Had a grand show of deer while sitting on the pool deck again last night! Didn't see the really big buck, but there were two smaller guys.
Gerry, most days I DON'T have the energy! But I also know how much I enjoy eating it all in the winter. I don't think I could bear eating a spaghetti sauce from the store. Plus I know exactly what's IN my sauce - tomatoes, onions garlic, Italian herbs and spices, salt and pepper. No thickeners or preservatives. And considering the absolutely insane grocery prices right now, I'm happy to save some money. So, I'll muster up the energy somehow!
I have a bridal shower this afternoon. I'm not a big fan of these events and I'm not going to know anyone there except for the bride to be and her little daughter. They are the ones who live down at the horse rescue and I pick RayLynn up from the bus fairly often. But I don't want to disappoint RayLynn - she is very excited that I'm going to be there. Plus, I'm giving her a ride home because her mom has to go to work after her shower.

Drac, you do such good works for so many people and animals in your community; what a blessing you must be for them all. It was 48 degrees this morning here. Really nice to wake up to! Wishing everyone here a pleasant Sunday.

Good day everyone; I found something interesting on FB. Hummingbird nests are only 2 inches wide & built with spider silk for flexibility. As the babies grow, the nest stretches like a natural bungee cord. Talk about innovative architecture.
We are under a dome of smoke here, nothing is moving, a good day to stay indoors & play a game. Have a gread day everyone & stay safe out there.
A balanced diet is a cookie in each hand.

Judith, we're also under a cloud of wildfire smoke here in BC. It's been really bad this year. The map of wildfires in Canada is really sobering.
That's a wonderful fact about hummingbird nests.
