Don't forget. My house and my brother and I are not normal!

Our house is far from normal, so I understand that. As for the two of us being normal, well...

I agree with Marian. I don't see anything to be apprehensive or worried about in that link. As I said, you don't have to change anything. All that will happen is that the name of your network will change as will the password. So when your tablet or your desktop looks up available networks, the new one will be listed. All you do is connect by entering the new password. Boom! Done!

And my 100+ year old farmhouse is FAR from normal too! And again, as Mad says... hmmm... who defines normal!

I'd say most of you are normal; just most of you. lol

No need to change the password on the tablet. The password carries over. Now that this is done I guess I will try to figure out how the Nook Book part works and try it out. I don't really know what to use the tablet for yet. Which brings me to this question: If my internet goes out, will my Tablet also go out then even though it is Wi Fi, not Fiber? (You know, because it is not that modem box.)

Edit: Well, originally it didn't seem to need a new password and the tech guy had said it would not, but now it did. duh

2nd Edit: I bought 3 books. A real pain in the rump roast to do unfortunately. I hope that reading them is easier. I was just going to try one but...

Your fiber IS you WiFi now! As I said before, your devices don't care how your internet signal is brought to the house. If your fiber WiFi goes out, you just won't have WiFi access to purchase more books or watch movies or whatever else. However, you should still be able to read any of the books that have been downloaded to your tablet.

The nice thing about fiber is that it essentially never goes out.

So, the tablet does not really depend on the fiber even though it connects through that box (except of course the downloading part of books). That's good.

It remains to be seen if the fiber "never goes out". I don't believe any company uses or makes products that won't require people to spend more money. They'd all go out of business.

Thanks Drac!

Fiber is less subject to things that internet delivered over wires and cables like weather. Since it's underground, it's very stable. Nothing to say that it can't go out, but it is much less likely.

The tablet depends on your fiber WiFi to connect to the internet. But just like my laptop the last time the power went out, I could still read a book I had downloaded even though I didn't have internet access.

I personally think ATT is worse than most. But they also want to make money for themselves and if they are making their services much more likely to not need service calls, that's going to be more profitable. Plus, they really need to keep up with new technology to keep their customers.
