Still playing Cyberpunk. Much amusement still from auto-drive, which is my favourite new feature; not because it gets me from A to B but because it's so spectacularly hilarious.

Last night I hit the auto-drive function while in crowded downtown Night City, and the car promptly drove into another car, bounced onto the sidewalk, and ran over a pedestrian, which got me into a five-minute police chase involving about ten vehicles trying to surround my car, many shots fired at me, and multiple pedestrians run over, until I finally hightailed it out into the badlands where they gave up the chase. They caught me again a couple of minutes later but their hearts obviously weren't in it at that point and I got clean away.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

I think auto-driving in video games may be just as hard to get right as auto-driving in real life. The AI needs to able to scan all obstacles, pedestrians, traffic lights, etc., and make the right decision every split second in real time, just like self-driving cars in real life. And as we know, video game AI in general (enemy AI, companion AI, etc.) has never been great to begin with. We've seen great strides made in AI, like ChatGPT and the likes. But can it perform at 60 frames per second in real time for N hours straight like in a video game?

Yes, I often think about RL auto-drive and the kinds that haven't been worked out yet when I'm playing this game.

Cyberpunk is a very good game. I loved it when it first came out and the new DLC really adds to it. I'm getting close to the finish line and thinking about starting a new character, less brain and more brawn this time.

I'm playing Fallout 76 again because a substantial update was released earlier this week that made the west side of the map explorable. Walter Goggins from the Fallout TV series appears in the game as the character he plays in the show, and he basically acts as a quest-giver. Bethesda said this is the biggest update since Wastelanders in 2020, but it doesn't mean it is "as big." It adds new quests, events, locations, characters, items, and a bounty-hunting system. But Wastelanders added a whole lot more. Milepost Zero and caravans have been removed, and their exclusive items have been moved to other vendors.
