Yes, Big Fish Games is undergoing a transition to what in future will be called BFG Entertainment. My understanding is that pretty much all contracts have been terminated and that new contracts will be re-negotiated. What will ultimately happen with Friendly Fox and Grandma Studios is yet to be determined. So yes, I think the change on your credit card statement is another reflection of this transition. I should also note that these decisions in regards to some of the Big Fish game developers are being made by Big Fish's parent company, Aristocrat, and Big Fish should not be held responsible for them.

I had thought of posting about this but was going to wait until certain things had been made more clear; right now things are in a state of flux. I will, however, copy and paste here a quote directly from BFG Entertainment that was posted on the Big Fish Fans Facebook page:

Quote
Dear Big Fish Community,

2026: The Year of the Player

Enhanced Game Club Value: For our dedicated Members, 2026 will bring expanded rewards and more exclusive "First-Look" opportunities with our beta program. Your loyalty is the foundation of our success, and we’re committed to making the Game Club the best value in gaming.

Unrivaled Quality: We are investing more into the storytelling and technical polish of our upcoming titles to ensure every minute you spend in-game is world-class.

Stay Tuned
We are currently putting the finishing touches on our 2026 Roadmap, and we cannot wait to pull back the curtain and share specific titles and release dates with you in the new year.

Thank you for being the most passionate community in the industry. We wish you a restful holiday season and a New Year filled with adventure.

Warmly,
The team at Big Fish Games

And that's pretty much all I know about the situation. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out this year (pun intended). wink

Thanks Marian. I figured you probably knew something (you always do) but maybe didn't post so as not to stir things up, like bad thoughts of where Big Fish may be headed. I can't help but worry about my 1500 or so games though. sick

It's true that I did not want to post anything much until the dust had settled. And I understand your concern. I have often wondered how a closure would affect downloaded games, not just on Big Fish but on other sites as well. I was one of those who was very resistant to the idea of downloaded games and much preferred having actual CDs. But over time it has gotten to the point where you are kind of forced to accept downloads if you want to play pretty much of anything.

As for the future, the ownership of Big Fish has changed several times in the last 10 years, leaving me to wonder each time whether the site would continue. Again, we will just have to wait and see what happens this time.

That is the great thing about sites like GOG: you can back up a game and not have to worry about its future viability, even if the site shuts down. Unfortunately they sell a very small number of casual games. It's great for many adventure games and RPGs, though.

Double Whammy!! First the notice of corporate changes at GoG, and now similar issues at BFG. From a "casual" observer, the BFG issue sounds more troublesome.

rtrooney, we posted at the same time and I just added some comments which are above your post.

Suffice it to say that the entire game industry and who owns what and who runs what is constantly changing, for sure. Where that will ultimately lead us, I really have no idea.

Marian - As you said, time will tell.

Side note: I used to own a sizeable chunk of Netflix stock. This was back in the day when Netflix said it was getting out of the CD business, and was going to concentrate on streaming. I sold my stock, at a good profit fortunately, because I didn't see a future in the streaming model. Well, you know how that turned out. frown

Yikes! frown Best not to dwell on that decision. I can understand why it seemed to you like there was no future in streaming. Glad you sold the stock with a good profit nevertheless.

That's the real concern to me, Marian. Big Fish has changed ownership multiple times and each time seems to bring unwanted changes for us gamers here. I was only thinking of my BF purchases but I do also own a lot of BF games on Steam. I read also that they are changing their customer support again in some way.

Regarding GOG, that doesn't reassure me since you know I can't seem to back games up properly. I also resisted downloads for a very long time. Now I find using discs to be a chore. Go figure.

rtrooney, I don't own stock in anything but I've still kicked myself about some things.
