Hi.
For eons I've used emoticons on my Win10 machine by "pressing the Windows Logo button and the Full Stop button" together. Causing a little square sheet of them to superimpose on screen.
But yesterday, I got the square on screen and then scrolled down within it (to look at some different ones) and couldn't scroll back up to the originals !! [And now, whenever I get the square on screen, it's always the bottom half I get.]
Does anyone know how to rectify this, please ??

What key is the "full stop" button?
Have you tried rebooting the computer to reset it?

On my keyboard, Draclvr, the punctuation mark "full stop" is situated just above the bottom row directly above a key called "Alt Gr" - which apparently is primarily used to "type characters that are used less frequently in the language that the keyboard is designed for, such as foreign currency symbols", according to Wikipedia. [Never used it myself. And yes, I've tried re-booting, but no joy

I was going to have to ask about the "full stop" button also. I've actually always wondered where people got their emoticons from. Sorry this is not any help to you at all!
Edit: I also meant to say that I wonder if it has anything to do with Windows 10 no longer being supported. I have found that the desktop themes available in the Microsoft store accessed through "settings - personalization - themes" no longer seems to work right either.

I did some searching and the combination is "Windows Key and the period" punctuation mark. Your keyboard is QUITE different from ours!
Having said that, the Windows plus period works just fine for me. I did some searching and found that Windows key plus semicolon works the same way. Does that work for you?
Are you using the slider on the right side of the little panel or the scroll on your mouse?
Oldbroad, I also noticed the themes were working differently last spring. Must have been an update or something.

Yes. The combination you quote, Draclvr, is what I’ve always used to get the square of emoticons on screen - both before and after I instigated the free extended Win10 Updates. And, yes, the semicolon does do the same job.
I used the side bar to access the emoticons in the lower half of the square by pulling it down. (I’ve never tried to access that lower half before but I don’t understand why pulling the bar down worked but pulling it up won’t !!)
I can try scrolling the mouse button instead of using the bar - tomorrow - but why should that make any difference ??

It's working for me too. So, I'm not sure if it's a mouse problem or something else. The one thing I found on it just said to try again, reboot or make sure your computer is up to date.
I am very curious if your "period" key actually says "full stop." I've just never heard of this! We also have a "Alt" key just below it, just not "Alt Gr!" I can access special characters by pressing the "Alt" key plus certain numbers for different characters.

Hi Draclvr. The mouse "scroll" feature doesn't do anything either Can you possibly tell me how I can delete this emoticon function altogether, so I can then re-boot and re-install it, and just never try to even use the lower portion of the square again ?? As for "full stop" .. it must be UK terminology. And no, the key isn't labelled "Full Stop". It isn't labelled with any word, just shows "." as a character. All my schools taught it as "full stop" - from Primary on - and used it for what you call a "period". So I'm sure it' will be familiar to other British Gameboomers But it's probably archaic now. After all I am 84 years old !! Granted, my keyboard is an old one but it still works perfectly with everything else. As does my equally old mouse. [Both work fine with all old and new "everythings" alike !!] So I don't know why it doesn't fully work with this emoticon thing Naughty Pandora

Mad, you cannot "delete" this emoji feature as it is integrated into Windows. Let me ask this question in one of my tech forums and see if anyone else has any suggestions.
While I've heard the term full stop, I've never heard it used for the "period" we use at the end of a sentence! Learn something new every day!
Edit: Just a shot in the dark... did your scroll lock key get pressed accidentally? My scroll lock is located next to the Prt Sc key.
