July 10, 2026 – Independent development studio WildSphere is proud to announce that its new survival horror and puzzle title, Escape From Umbra, is now available for purchase on all major console and PC digital platforms. Players will be immersed in an atmosphere of ancient witchcraft and psychological horror, where they must find their path to freedom equipped with only a small flashlight and a secret book of clues.
Developed and self-published 100% independently by WildSphere, Escape From Umbra launches simultaneously on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Steam, and GOG.

What seemed to be a happy birthday in a vacation home suddenly turns into a dark nightmare. Players will find themselves trapped in a mysterious village ruled by a relentless witch who hunts them to consume their souls forever. Combining survival horror and logic-puzzle mechanics, players will explore and solve the enigmas to escape from Umbra’s domain.

A Unique Environment To Explore

Escape From Umbra transports players to a labyrinthine town inspired by the mountain villages in Las Alpujarras. Their iconic narrow streets and white facades, recreated with fidelity using Unreal Engine 5, are invaded by dark roots and a dense, oppressive fog. Following the trail of enigmatic black cats, players will freely explore every corner of the town to find the way to escape from the nightmare where Umbra has locked them up.

Escape Room Mechanics with Total Immersion

The title completely eschews artificial inventories or floating backpacks, opting for a true "escape room" format. Players must investigate the environment, manipulate objects, and figure out how to use them within the 3D space to escape each area. To do so, they will rely on a mysterious magic book, deciphering its logic-based clues to solve every puzzle and challenge.

However, the town is governed by shadow creatures that watch for any presence to summon the mistress of darkness. Players will carry a unique flashlight capable of condensing energy and unleashing powerful bursts of light, allowing them to defend themselves against specters and reveal secrets hidden by magic. On PlayStation 5, the flashlight’s functions utilize adaptive triggers to achieve greater realism.

Additionally, controller vibration becomes a living gameplay mechanic: there are no on-screen indicators; the character’s heartbeat is transmitted directly to the player’s hands, accelerating chaotically as the only radar for imminent danger.
