Good morning everyone. We've had on and off scattered showers which has helped the temperature. Looking at a forecast of 100 for this afternoon. The WADDB is marvelous...looking forward to bagels. Have a wonderful day everyone. wave

Good Tuesday morning. I like listening to rain and thunder at night as long as it isn't a severe storm too, Space Quest!

Slight break in the heat today which is welcome. It was so hot yesterday even Petra came inside and said she couldn't take it any more! She usually spends all day outside going from the pool to her chair in the shade. I think they are doing their last shopping today.

Need to go to a doctor's appt with hubby today. One of his hearing aids is not working and he had to take it back in. So, he has a hard time hearing everything. It's the last follow-up for the Aspire implant he got for his sleep apnea. He absolutely loves it because he is finally getting real sleep for the first time in many years. The heart damage the sleep apnea caused is permanent, but at least it shouldn't get any worse.

Good morning everyone.

It's pouring rain this morning, which is fantastic. It's enough for the garden to get a good soaking. The heat is gone, too, and we're down to 18 Degrees. I'm meeting with my landscaper this morning to plan out the rest of the plantings in the garden.

My lungs are finally starting to feel better after over a month. I should be able to do a full dance class this week, fingers crossed. That was the longest asthma attack I've had.

One thing I have realized through the dance classes is that I have difficulty jumping. No problem getting airborne, but the landing isn't wonderful. The Pilates classes have built up muscle in the front of my legs, but not in the back, and so I've looked up some exercises to slowly build back up to being able to jump.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Morning everyone! Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready. wave

It's going to be a rainy day today...we are under a flood watch as the rain is expected to be heavy...2 to 6 inches depending on where it rains and if it stalls or moves slowly over the area.

Hope you all enjoy a Happy Hump Day! wave

Good Wednesday morning. A tad cooler here today. I sure hope you stay dry, Gerry!

With the slightly cooler temps, think I'll tackle some weeds today. We picked another bucket of cucumbers today, so I'm going to make some marinated cucumbers. I like to just keep some in the fridge to snack on!

Good afternoon everyone.

Just got home from yoga and managed to hit my front tooth with a fork and the crown popped off. It never ends! Luckily the crown came off in one piece and I can have it glued back on this afternoon.

It's an absolutely beautiful day. Yesterday I had a planning session with my landscaper for the rest of the water feature area and the back fence. I found an unusual Rhodo at the local nursery. It has red stems and leaves and pink flowers in the Spring. It'll be gorgeous contrasted with the Pieris bush beside it. I have a Weeping Blue Cedar to plant along the back fence. Then I think the garden is complete.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

I don't have any water features in either my front or rear gardens but in the rear, which is North facing, I have A LOT of (twenty plus years established) evergreen, flowering shrubs.

These include different varieties of Pieris, a traditional red Rhododendron, a traditional white Hydrangea, a purple Buddleia 'Black Knight', several varieties of Geranium and Hebe - and much else.

And also, outside the French Windows, a Red Acer Maple and a variety of Spring, Summer and Winter bulbs in pots and two stone geese, a stone bench and a collection of small stone birds and other little creatures close by 🙂

All is encompassed by a Leylandii hedge down one side, wooden panelling down the other - and a stand of six or more very tall, old Sycamore trees across the bottom.

Having lived in many different houses with many different sizes and shapes of gardens (but a lot of the time then with the help of my late Husband) the one that was the MOST work was one with a huge "multi" rear garden which comprised a selection of fruit trees, fruit bushes, vegetable plots AND flower beds.
Plus, at the front, eighteen rose beds.

Couldn't manage anything on that scale by myself these days rolleyes

LOL, oldbroad! I'm sure there is MUCH less weeding to be done with your gardens!

That is the extent of it for me, as well. grin

Mad, your garden descriptions sound perfectly lovely.

Sorry about your tooth, hagatha! Yes, there always seems to be something.

I hope everyone had a good day. I had to go out for about an hour today and that's it for me for a while. Will get groceries delivered tomorrow. It is starting to heat up out here and I have zero desire to go out apart from one early morning walk and a trip to the mailbox.

The tooth was repaired just fine so that small crisis is over. My dentist just glued the crown back in.

I am looking forward to finishing the garden, although in the way of gardens something new always catches the eye. On the way home I stopped in to the local grocery store, and they had the most beautiful Echinacea plants I have ever seen, short and stubby, lush plants with ruffled dark pink flowers. I have a spot for them in the front where my lovely red maple used to be, the one that had to be removed because it was so close to the septic tank.

Temperatures here are dropping, thankfully.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Ah just in time for WADDB and Danish this morning. No it usually doesn't end Hagatha...advancing in years brings its own challenges. Not sure what my schedule will be today... will find out once my task master finishes breakfast. Had fun yesterday playing Magic The Gathering Marvel Super Heros. MTG: The Hobbit releases mid August...can't wait for it. Have a great day everyone!

Good Thursday morning. The Germans always watch the German news while they are eating breakfast. It was 100 degrees F in Schweinfurt today... This is brutal for the people as they just aren't used to this kind of heat. There isn't very much AC over there either. Some of their friends have gotten units for the bedrooms, but that's about it. They are heading back on Sunday and by the time they get home on Monday, it is supposed to be a little better - only 96 F! Petra says... and no pool in the back yard! She and I both read there are over 5,000 "extra" deaths in Europe caused by the heat.

Good morning everyone.

I wouldn't be able to stand the kind of heat Europe is experiencing right now. We used to get some pretty hot days in summer in Toronto but nothing like this.

We put in our heat pump in our place in Campbell River in 2021, when the heat was so bad it was making John very ill. When I was looking for a new place the one absolute stipulation was that it had to have heat pump or be capable of having a heat pump (i.e. a furnace and air ducts). I had really wanted to move to Qualicum but all of the houses there had electric baseboard heating and no ducts,

Gerry, I did buy the plants. They only had two, but I'll pop in this afternoon after dance class to see if they got any more today. I can't stand just having two; it needs to be three or it won't look right.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.
