I'm trying to remember the name of a game. Part of the action took place in a castle, where the player moved to different areas of the castle by going across the rooftop, moving from one tower to another. I seem to remember one scene in the castle where the player was on a balcony area, and needed a telescope or binoculars or some other magnifying device to see something that was necessary to further his quest. Does anyone remember the name of this game?

Could it have been The Messenger (aka Louvre I think) from 2000 or 2001?

Maybe it's Lighthouse: The Dark Being. Part of it plays on a island fortress where you can use a telescope on a tower to watch a monster. Here's a video of the fortress scene: Fortress Scene on YouTube
