You described it perfectly! You can move those icons where ever you wa t. Just tap and hold the icon and move your finger to the position you want. Just lift up your finger when it is in the position you want. I probably ha ent explained it every well.
As you can tell by the misspelling, I'm back to typing on my phone. Severe thunderstorms caused widespread power outages all over the region.

Yup, like I said tap and hold! Power came back on at 1:15 last night. I just watched a couple episodes of a series I'm watching on Netflix on my phone. I have some bluetooth earbuds so I don't have to use the awful cell phone speakers.
When you do a tap and hold on the camera app, does a small menu open up with one of the options being "add to home?" You can lift up your finger and tap that option and see what happens. For me, that puts the icon on a screen to the RIGHT of the main screen. Then I tap and hold the icon and move it to the left where the main screen is. I have to hold it for a second at the left edge of the phone before it will snap onto the main screen.
Again, I'm probably not explaining this real well, but at least I'm not misspelling everything!

Yes, that's what I'm doing. (When tap didn't work, I figured out you meant tap and hold.)
Edit: Well, I just tried it again. Don't know what I did differently but this time it just moved itself to my main screen and I guided it down to where I wanted it.
Thank you!

I'm like you with phone stuff - sometimes I have no idea why something worked!

To prevent inadvertent moves or deletions of home screen icons, some phones allow you to "lock" the home screen setup. On a Samsung phone just go to Settings/Home screen and then scroll down to the "Lock Home screen layout" slider. You just have to remember to unlock it if you want to add or move icons. I'm guessing other platforms have a similar feature.

I found this on Google (if it is applicable to your phone): To lock your home screen layout on an Android phone (such as a T-Mobile REVVL, Samsung, or REVVL REVVL/ONE device), touch and hold an empty space on your home screen, tap Home Settings or Settings, and toggle on Lock Home Screen Layout
