Not sure if anyone can answer this with my description and not knowing my phone but -

There are some icons on my phone that used to be lined up across the bottom: phone, text, Chrome?, something I don't know, and camera. A week or so ago, somehow I lost the camera icon from there. I can't see it anywhere on the screen anymore. I can find it by swiping up. Today, somehow the phone icon got moved up on the screen and is no longer at the bottom next to the text icon.

What have I done to cause these to move and is there some way to move the phone icon back down? I don't like it being scattered around. Android phone; T-Mobile One Plus. It is not a huge deal but bugs me because I just don't know how it happens.

You described it perfectly! You can move those icons where ever you wa t. Just tap and hold the icon and move your finger to the position you want. Just lift up your finger when it is in the position you want. I probably ha ent explained it every well.

As you can tell by the misspelling, I'm back to typing on my phone. Severe thunderstorms caused widespread power outages all over the region.

Thank you! Sorry to hear you are back on your phone!

Took a couple of tries but I did get the phone moved back down. Tap and Hold. Not just Tap - that opened up the phone app to make a call. When you can type better, maybe you can tell me how to get the camera app icon back on that main screen rather than doing the swipe up to where all the apps are.

Yup, like I said tap and hold! Power came back on at 1:15 last night. I just watched a couple episodes of a series I'm watching on Netflix on my phone. I have some bluetooth earbuds so I don't have to use the awful cell phone speakers.

When you do a tap and hold on the camera app, does a small menu open up with one of the options being "add to home?" You can lift up your finger and tap that option and see what happens. For me, that puts the icon on a screen to the RIGHT of the main screen. Then I tap and hold the icon and move it to the left where the main screen is. I have to hold it for a second at the left edge of the phone before it will snap onto the main screen.

Again, I'm probably not explaining this real well, but at least I'm not misspelling everything!

Sorry, I took "tap" literally and just tapped.

Doing that on the camera icon does bring up a menu but it does not include "home". It has edit and app info at the top and then "shortcuts" of portrait, pro, video, & beauty selfie.

What if you "tap and hold."

Yes, that's what I'm doing. (When tap didn't work, I figured out you meant tap and hold.)

Edit: Well, I just tried it again. Don't know what I did differently but this time it just moved itself to my main screen and I guided it down to where I wanted it.

Thank you!

I'm like you with phone stuff - sometimes I have no idea why something worked!

To prevent inadvertent moves or deletions of home screen icons, some phones allow you to "lock" the home screen setup. On a Samsung phone just go to Settings/Home screen and then scroll down to the "Lock Home screen layout" slider. You just have to remember to unlock it if you want to add or move icons. I'm guessing other platforms have a similar feature.

Thanks Trail! I took a look but don't see anywhere to do that. It's not worth it to me to mess something else up by trying out too many things. blush

I found this on Google (if it is applicable to your phone):

Quote
To lock your home screen layout on an Android phone (such as a T-Mobile REVVL, Samsung, or REVVL REVVL/ONE device), touch and hold an empty space on your home screen, tap Home Settings or Settings, and toggle on Lock Home Screen Layout

Hm, thanks Marian. I can get to that screen (sort of). It doesn't say "Lock Home Screen Layout" anywhere but I do see a "save" button I think. There is too much other stuff on the screen though that makes me nervous about clicking that. I guess it's not that important, at least not until I actually lose something totally off of the phone (which I may do somehow, someday). wink
