Good Thursday morning. I'm already on my second cup of WADDB too, Fogfighter. I have an XP computer which I MUST get running again. I had to mount the XP hard drive in a new case a long time ago. The RAM failed and I purchased new RAM, but I've just never installed it. I believe there are a few people here who still fire up their old XP and even Windows 98 computers for gaming.

Not much on the agenda today. League bowling tonight.

I have a lovely Win98 machine that works absolutely perfectly but after I got the Win10 machine I could no longer fit the Win98 on my table and so now it's sadly "sleeping" in a spare bedroom

But I do currently have WinXP, Win7 and Win10 on the go - and enjoy using them all

However, if I'm ever forced to buy yet another Windows machine (possibly Win11 or Win12 - or whatever else Microsoft might try to force on us) it is likely to be as basic and cheap a Laptop as I can suitably find

I have to say that the version of Win11 on my new computer annoys me. Nothing is where it used to be! I'd only just become comfortable with the previous iteration.

We are expecting a Nor'easter storm this weekend with high winds. With the leaves still on the trees there could be power outages so I may not be posting this Weeknd.

I'm happy to hear there are still some XP machines out there. I just started up dad's old XP laptop. It runs but the HDD doesn't sound healthy. Might be worth trying to upgrade to SSD. My own XP machine unfortunately died 15 years ago, and lots of old software became harder to run.
Anyway I just updated a Mahjong style game I programmed for XP. Very simple, very small. very modest system requirement. If anyone adventurous wants to try it on their XP machine, let me know and I'll provide a download link.

Over here it's pretty warm again, 20 Celsius in the sun. The WADDB is black and there are still some apples in the garden. Not much but enough for some jam I'm sure.

It's been pouring here for almost two days. Hope it's enough to put out the fires here on the Island.

I'm off to Pilates this morning and then up to Canadian Tire for a few things.

Good Friday morning. Chilly this morning again, but I still have a few hummingbirds. I'm also listening to a juvenile Cardinal chittering to get the adult male to feed him.

I love the Mahjong games and have a couple of them. You might move me to finally get my old XP running again!

We had a tragedy down at the Ranch this week. It happened Monday night and I just haven't been able to talk about it. Someone asked me what happened at the bowling alley last night and I just broke down. The "star of the show" Twister the Painting Horse was killed in a horrible pasture accident caused by a falling tree. It was a freak accident and we're all still having a hard time processing it. I had to take some vaccines down there yesterday and saw they buried him on a hill next to a small memorial garden built for a child who died. Of course, I cried all the way home again. Twister was on the Today show some years ago and was our ambassador for rescued farm animals.
