Hi Guys,

I am in the mood to be a hero, so have loaded this game. I'm just wondering if there is a patch I should download and install before I start playing.

Thanks

puppy

Nope, no patch L4L, just pure gaming fun. I loved that game...you get to do all kinds of naughty things. lol
I recommend getting the strategy guide or you may miss a lot of little quests.

Have fun!

Thanks, Ana puppy

I'm glad you mentioned the strategy guide. I had it, and remembered to go get it because you mentioned it. puppy

I just started playing, and being the save queen that I am, have tried to save a couple of times. I get the option for the Hero Save, but never the option for the World save.

I've just talked to the Guild Master on the first day and he's told me to go to the woods, so I'm wondering if perhaps that's the problem. Do I not get world save until after I leave training?

The other thing too is that if you are on a quest you can't do a World Save either, only a Hero Save.

Thanks Trail. I knew I couldn't do a world save on a quest, but I don't even show an Option for a world save. So maybe once I get a bit further on in the game.

OK. Gotta resurrect this thread. I started playing this one a couple of days ago and am having a hard time pulling my head out of it. What a great game!

Trail, I nearly spewed an adult beverage all over my keyboard when I ran into the potheads - thought I was back in college!

I was so discouraged when I couldn't do a World Save in the quest in the Bandits hideout. I had finally gotten to where I had to figure out how to get in to see the Seer and was just too tired to play any more about 1:30 am last night. Did a Hero Save, but CURSES!

I'm off this week so I've got the last load of clothes out on the clothes line and just put the pizza dough in the oven to rise - I'm going back in.....

Ok guys, finally got back to this game for a bit, but still trying to figure out how everything works before I start questing in earnest.

Question 1: How do I get stuff from my inventory to the hot bar? I found a chest marked 5, and have a key worth 10 (I think--the text is truncated so guessing here), but can't Use the key think

Question 2: A voice keeps telling me to increase my combat multiplier. I haven't the faintest idea how to do that.

Can I sleep him to heal him?

thanks

I played this one on the Xbox and I enjoyed it alot. As far as the combat multipliers, I think it means increase your abilities, but it's been so long, that'd have to be my best guess. And yes, sleeping does restore your health.

OK I'm just playing this myself, but I'll give your remaining questions a shot. The combat multiplier is increased by killing the most attackers and taking the least amount of injury. If I understand this it's better to take out all of your attackers before picking up the experience orbs. You can see the level of your combat multiplier in a little icon kind of thing that appears when you are fighting. Someone who knows more than me please clarify this, I'm not totally sure of that explanation...

The key you have is worth 10 gold, but the chest requires 5 keys...

As for the hotbars, I haven't delved into that yet because I have such few items (I always travel light) and the game seems to dump stuff in automatically dependent on the situation....

I wasn't much help was I? frown I'm still learning too..... grin

I know, given the type of game this is, the box graphics and the intro I was not expecting that type of humor at all... laugh

Cool, thanks for finding that clarification Nickie. I was at least close to how it works. That is a weird little complexity in the game....

You explained it better than I could have! lol Here's some neat spoilers for the game - in fact that site has several very good tips ( don't click and look if it might ruin your play).

Hi-

Will someone tell me if this game is a point and click? Sounds like something I would like.

Thanks

It isn't Maggie. You use the keyboard for most things, use the mouse to control the camera. Here is a review by Gremlin if you'd like to read more.

Thanks Nickie, Trail wave

Son came over last night and took a look, and the reason I couldn't get the key was that I didn't actually have it. I thought I did as I could see it spin in that big picture box, but I didn't have a little one.

Thanks for the explanation, though, Trail, that a 5 on the box means I need 5 keys to open the box.

Thanks for the link Nickie. I had read something about the CM, but then couldn't find it again. I'm hoping to play a lot today, so hopefully will get comfy with the interface.

If not, I'm going to look and see IF I have this for my Xbox--wave

I finally got to Witchwood and I won't spoil anything, but the scrambled letters for the name of the big stone face guy (forget what you call them) just about had me on the floor. I'm having so much fun with this game. I just wish I could get to graphics to run smoother. It's not bad, just enough to be a tad annoying. I've tried every video adjustment permutation and combination within the game and played with the video card acceleration from the desktop as much as I can with no improvement. I've got a 128 MB Sapphire Raedon card, plenty of RAM and a 3.0 GB P4, so I guess I'll just have to live with it. I'm having fun anyway.

I read of a problem someone else was having with a Raedeon card. I think they didn't have the Microsoft .NET framework installed. Is that a possibility? Glad you're having a blast with it anyway, fun game!

Yea, the game is really picky. I've read that folks with ATI cards or the older nVidia FX series have a bunch of issues getting this thing to run. I couldn't get it to run for the life of me on my Core Duo PC with a 7900GT, but it runs absolutely gang-busters on a Pentium single-core 478 3.4GHz with an old 6800GT and 2GB of "Plain Jane" DDR.
