Niteowl, I'm impressed with the DS list too. I don't think it needs to be either/or--The more the merrier My son played the Syberia's on Xbox, I played them on puter. We both loved it. He could not have played it on the puter--didn't have one that would run it. I did not have an Xbox at the time, but I bought one because I figured that some games are better on the consoles and some are better on the puter, and heck, I'm in my second childhood while I can still sort of afford it, so why not!

Hi You know what this discussion is starting to sound like? - It's a fact that most people prefer ginger cookies. Why do cookie manufacturers even bother to make other kinds of cookies? - But I like chocolate chip cookies too! - Well, I don't, so manufacturers should stop making them and only make ginger cookies. I will not buy any cookies from any manufacturer that makes anything else besides ginger cookies. I can't agree with this statement. It implies such selfishness. Most of us would surely be very happy that people could play Adventure games on any number of different systems as long as these systems don't replace the PC. I know I would Cheers. Mad

Unfortunately that is exactly what some people in this thread seem to want Mad, they say there should NOT be any adventure on any platform other than PC. That's what triggered my analogy. I know many people don't mind multi-platform releases, but some do. And I don't understand why. Different people, different tastes.
Some adventure games for Nintendo DS use the features of that console (e.g microphone to blow in, touch screen, two screens at the same time) so they would never work on a PC. They work fine on a Nintendo DS which they were specifically designed for, but since they're not released for PC, they shouldn't exist at all, according to some people. That is selfish.

Myst is the only one, as far as I know. That's disappointing. Thanks Pollo.

chrissie, I have most of these as well and indeed not all were released in the NTSC-region. However TLC asked about the PSP, the PlayStation Portable. I don't think any adventure other than Myst was released for it.

Knight there are just as many games that were developed for several platforms simultaneously that do not contain any action at all. Adventure games are NOT ruined by being developed for consoles as well as PC. There are plenty of games that were never released on any console and still contain action. It's a choice developers make that has nothing to do with the intended platform(s), but has everything to do with their perception of the audience and possible number of sold copies. For instance Wanted a Wild West Adventure contained action-sequences (shoot-outs), it was the sequel to a point and click adventure called 3 Skulls of the Toltecs. Not released on any platform except PC. So the developers did not do this with console-owners in mind.
Lots of games that were released on consoles and PC do NOT contain action. In fact, most games chrissie mentions, such as Broken Sword 1 and 2, the Discworld games, Myst and Riven, were developed for PC and PlayStation 1 simultaneously yet there is no action involved. There may be some relation, but it's nowhere near as straightforward and definite as you seem to think.

For PS2 I have 1) Beyond Atlantis II: The New World (Atlantis III: The New World in Europe) 2) The Glass Rose (there's a very small amount of action consisting of clicking in a certain corner of a screen within a certain amount of time, nothing I couldn't handle) 3) Largo Winch Empire Under Threat 4) Shadow of Destiny (Shadow of Memories in Europe) and - Echo Night Beyond (wouldn't consider this a true adventure though). In Europe Syberia 1 and 2 and Versailles II were also released on PS2. Still looking to buy these and Escape from Monkey Island and Myst III Exile (if you include Echo Night Beyond that would make ten adventures ).

Hi Jenny I haven't got a clue about what games were released where! I have for PS2 on the AG front pretty much the same as PolloDiablo : Syberia 1 & 2, Atlantis 3, Myst Exile, Shadows of Memories/Destiny, Monkey Island 3, Largo Winch & Glass Rose (very strange game!!!) Sorry! is that 8?? Echo? I don't have that one - is that the dolphin game? Also I am not aware that Versailles 2 was released in the UK for PS2!

Leeana I'm not offended, I just couldn't understand why you didn't want me to enjoy adventures on a different system. Chrissie - Echo Nights Beyond is a sci-fi/horror game about people crashlanding on a honeymoon on the moon. The main character has to find lost objects to set 'souls' free but there are sequences where he has to flee and run, trying to escape and not let his heart beat get too high. It could very well be that Versailles was only released in France, I haven't found it either but saw it listed on several game-sites.
