I'm going to start a new thread of discussion about the puzzles. The old one was getting so long, it was slow to load, at least on my computer. Any of you who would like to check out what has been said in the past, just take a look at the first jigsaw thread and the second jigsaw thread . Besides the general discussion of the puzzles, there are some very useful tips on the easiest ways to work them.

For anyone unfamiliar with the wonderful puzzles that Peter conjures up, or who hasn't been introduced to his free trial offer, I'll repeat the information from the last thread below. And I encourage you to sign up for the free trial, with this warning: you are in danger of contracting a new disease called WAAP (working all available puzzles). The exact family relationship hasn't yet been determined, but WAAP is apparently some sort of relative to BAAGs, in that having BAAGs seems to make you more vulnerable to the severe forms of WAAP (in fact, I'm afraid that my case is rapidly reaching the terminal state! )

So here's the information: Back in October, Peter (aka "Mulawa"--the developer of Xiama and Magnetic) came up with a fabulous offer for a month's free subscription to his weekly jigsaw puzzles. It was a huge success (in fact I wound up not only continuing my subscription, but now I'm getting two puzzles a week!)

Since we've had a lot of new members join GameBoomers since October, I wanted to make sure that everyone was aware of this offer. Just follow Peter's link--you can't get a better deal than free...

Here is the quote from Peter's October offer: My subscription jigsaws have been going for well over a year.

Judging by all the e-mails I receive and the fact that nearly everyone re-subscribes, they are enormously popular. Many folk count the days to "Puzzle Day" each week! It seems there's something very special about a new jigsaw arriving every week.

But I don't want you to take my word for it!

So this is what I've come up with:

A free one month's subscription to anyone who wants it!

Just click on the link to take a peek:

Free jigsaws here!!!!!

As I said earlier, I heartily recommend you give Peter's offer a try

Jenny, thanks for the info on the other thread. I upgraded to twice a week and purchased the two games. I may still have to email peter for the extra 52 tho- I'm totally hooked!

That's the danger of these puzzles, Tazmanw--and it gets worse the more puzzles you solve... lol

I think I've found one that's right up there with the infamous Christmas Balls picture. Great picture but I'm really struggling to solve it.

This one looks easier to me than the Christmas Balls! I'm almost afraid of that one with all the balls looking alike. Same colors, same patterns row after row. However, my curiosity about it makes me want to try it whenever it comes my way. The boats look like fun in comparison!

If you are struggling with it, Peter, then I have cold chills at the idea of doing it myself!! lol

However, I think I'm a looooong ways away from those boats--I haven't even gotten to the Christmas Balls yet. That one really scares me--I had a hard enough time with the Christmas decorations on the red plaid material background... blush

Oh my! I know boats are harder for me to put together than houses or trees but looking at it I keep thinking, "How hard can it be?" Sounds like I might have my comeuppance when I get to that jigsaw!

Have completed the Marina jigsaw - took a lot of persistence but you're quite right - not quite as daunting as the Christmas Balls!

On a broader note, readers of this thread may be interested to read about our latest innovation - the PJ Kiosk - here subscribers can overview their whole collection and re-download any jigsaws they may have missed. It's also very handy when you move to a new computer and want to get your favourites back again.

I see the PJ Kiosk as a way of continuing to look after subscribers when we're on the road after retiring next month - frequently we won't have any Internet access frown

Peter, that brings up something I was thinking about just the other day--after you retire, will we continue to get the e-mails, or will we just need to go to the PJ Kiosk a couple times a week to pick up our new puzzles?

We need to have one of our famous "GameBoomer Parties" to celebrate your retirement... rotfl

Hi Jenny,

The GB Party sounds great!

When I retire two things will change:

1. I'll have more time to spend creating puzzles and games.

2. My replies to e-mails will take longer.

Everything else will continue as before! Only better!

Hey gang, I found a site that lets you upload your own pictures and create online zig-saw puzzels to share.

I tried it, so take a look and let me know what you think: (it's a pic of me in Croatia, taken last May). After you click on the link , click on the photo to see the puzzle. (It defaults to a 48 peice standard puzzle, but you can choose diffent numbers of peices, and shaped puzzles, including one where the peices are shaped like the states!)

The marina puzzle does look hard and speaking of hard, I think #31 the green/yellow translucent swirley pipes is the hardest. It was worse than the Christmas balls and that was hard.

Here's the "green/yellow translucent swirley pipes" - I agree it's a tough one!

With green being my favorite color and yellow my second choice, I didn't find this puzzle to be too hard at all. At least not that I can recall at this date, but I did like working it, that I know.
Could it be that Joan A has Christmas 2003 mixed up with the Christmas Balls puzzle? That one was harder for me than the swirley pipes. Haven't got to the Christmas Balls puzzle yet.

It boggles my mind just looking at the picture, but the challenge is awesome I think, so I'm more than willing to try it when it comes my way.

Five months? FIVE months? Peter is wandering that long? What if he gets lost? What if his laptop quits? What if he decides to just keep moving on down that road forever? What if he forgets us? Suddenly I feel anxiety that Peter is no longer RIGHT THERE in his usual chair giving us his avid attention and care.
cry
Well, allright, o.k. Peter DOES deserve some recreation time. Especially if he is getting more pictures for our puzzles. happydance
And, I KNOW he will continue to keep us sated and happy. Most of all, what a wonderful adventure he and his wife will share. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. wave
