Hi all, Well I got this game yesterday at Gamestop and am now poking around in it.
You start off in a tunnel like area and have to find your way out of there.
I haven't seen the outside yet so don't know what it looks like yet.
So far it looks and feels like Neverwinter Nights 2 with the same type of journal and inventory and so on.
You are joined right off with a Wizard (I think she is) and her familiar.
So far so good. I am enjoying it.

Hi, I don't know what you have to do because I had to re-install my Original Game and I just started a new game with the expansion. Since you say the original characters do appear in select characters I will put my characters back into the saves and see if I can pick them and play with them in the expansion. Hmmmm should be interesting. Glad to have some company in this game. Welcome.

I'm eagerly awaiting it. I've heard awesome things about it, and things like "The best in the RPG genre since games like Baldur's Gate, Fallout and Planescape: Torment". And that's from a very fastidious RPGer...

Are they dead? Yes. Unlike you they have but one life...and they wasted it for your sake!

Hi all,
Well I found out that when I export my character from the original game that he does appear in the select part.
I now have 2 games going. The first is a human Paladin lady that I picked from the people available and the second one is my Half Orc/fighter from the original game.
He does still have the same levels that he had in the orignal game. The only thing he kept in inventory was a cape he had gotten from the City Watch (I think or maybe from the Spider, not sure)but other than that he had only his stats intact.
I had to clean out the Wizard's inventory so he could have a sword at least.
If you exported your character from the original game then there will be more then one choice with the same name so you have to check out their stats to figure out which person is yours.
In both my games I am still in the Barrows. The Paladin is almost near the end of the top level and the Half Orc is in the second or middle level of the Barrow so you are way ahead of me.
I think you will like this game Drizzt if you liked the 2 originals.
For anyone that has Windows 2000 and wonders if it will work on their computer? It does.
The box had very tiny writing and it looked like XP next to 2000 so you can't really make it out but I had looked on the web before buying it so I thought it would work.
The read me file did clearly have the Windows 2000 listed and besides, I figured that if it worked with the 2 Originals then this one would work also.

And that's from a very fastidious RPGer... That's a big pair of shoes to fill! I'm looking forward to it, but keeping an even perspective on expectations. That said, I jumped up and down when I finally got my shipping confirmation from Amazon.

Hi,
Yes you have to go into the original campaign Debra and once you are in the game press the escape button to get the screen that will give you the option to export. You then go into the expansion and when you have the choice to select the charaters you have to look for yours with same name that the original game had and you will see more then one with that name. Look at their stats to see which one is yours.
Well my Paladin lady is in the city now and trying to figure out how to get the Red Wizard in the theater. We keep dying and dying so that is where she is now.
My Half Orc is stuck with the bear and we keep dying there as well. Jeeeze!!!
How did you get the Wizard??? Help!!!

Sounds like this one is tougher than the original campaign... I haven't started playing yet, so my advice is not based on the expansion, but in general users of the Arcane (Wizards, Sorcerers and the like) tend to be weak in the melee arm.... I would suggest a fast and direct melee onslaught by one or more buffed up melee characters (e.g. fighters, Paladins, Rangers, Clerics, etc) or some magical distraction followed close by a barrage of ranged weapon fire. If that doesn't work, super strong characters usually have some Achilles heel that is mentioned earlier in the story line.... Good Luck!

Hi,
Well when you have 3 or4 enemies coming at you then yes it is very hard to survive. Both my people just started the game and it shouldn't be this hard in the beginning.
I haven't given up yet and will keep trying.

Hi,
My Half Orc has now gotten the Red Wizard in the theater and is trying to get the enemy in the shadow world. Slow going since we have to leave to heal. At least the door wasn't locked like when you had to fight the Red Wizard and his many minions.
My Paladin lady is having a hard time getting the Red Wizard and if she is not able to get him then I may have to give up on her trying. Will try a few more times but who knows.
Debra...do you get more people to help you like in the original game??? When do you get them and where are they?
Do you have any more helpers besides the Wizard and where are you in the game?
I also have no idea how to use any of the benches in the theater yet either to enchant or alchemy.

Hi,
I also have no idea how to use any of the benches in the theater yet either to enchant or alchemy. Enchanting and Alchemy are based on the skills and caster levels of your characters. Crafts require specific levels to create items and potions. You need a mortar and pestle to make potions and to turn base ingredients into "essences" that can be used in enchanting. There are "recipe" books that pop up now and then in the game that tell you what is needed to create specific items and potions. Here is a link that gives some instructions and all the "recipes". I'm really looking forward to this expansion. I'm about halfway through the original NWN2 with the MotB pre-release patch and I'm still noticing little touches they added even in the original campaign. There is definitely extra dialogue and I'm also coming across books that appeared in NWN 1 that did not appear originally in NWN 2, plus a couple re-writes. Out of the three characters I was developing I decided to carry my Tiefling Warlock through to the expansion. Since there are Aasimars in the expansion I'm real interested in what dialogue will come up when they meet their polar opposite in my character

Hi, Hope you get the expansion soon Trail Mystic. I know you will enjoy it since you are playing the Originals. Thanks for the info Debra and I haven't yet found the new companions but good to know I will soon. I am now looking for what to do next with my Paladin. We have beat the Red Wizard and have not found the lady we are looking for yet. There is a door that is locked in the Shadow World but it seems to need a key. No idea where to look for this key. Is it in the next portal we found in the town area? We will keep looking for it and if we don't find it we will...yell....ahem...I mean ask nicely for help. How many people can we have with us and where do they wait when we can't take them with us? Hope you don't mind all the questions but you are probably way ahead of me so need some guidance. Do you know if there is a safe place to store stuff if we can't carry it?

*jumping up and down* I got it, I got it, I got it!!!! Now, let's hope the full install of the expansion pack fixes the bug in the original campaign I just came across in the MotB pre-release patch. I hit the "can't kill Lorne" bug where in the big arena scene against Lorne the game shifts perspective and Lorne’s "Rage" spell never wears off so you can never kill him. I battled for almost a full half-hour and went through about 30 health potions before I realized what had happened. The clue is if you have an elemental or animal companion that stops battling and just stands there or if you can no longer target Lorne with spells you have hit the bug..... The only thing to do is go back to an earlier save IF you have one because that particular segment encompasses a huge number of cut scenes.
