Hi Everyone, I asked another boomer if they know of some good puzzle games.
recently I bought Sentinel at Big Lots, they are carrying more
and more Games... and I was so surprised how much I love this
game, I Love puzzles the type with symbols, or math, I would
rather do these than the inventory type.
I have played the safe Cracker game and some nancy drew,
she suggested I ask yall if you have good recommendations for
puzzle type games, I had played the ravenhearst game recently,
I liked the room lock part, but didnt like the find pieces as much or the picture puzzle,
I like the crypto (SP?) type word puzzles ?

So do you all played some good puzzle adventure games?
I would love to hear about them...

 Thanks Marcia

oooo, could it be that you haven't tried Myst? It involves math, physics, pure logic and a lot of beauty. When I say Myst, I'm reffering to the whole series (Not including URU, URU's a bit of a side-kick). So there's Myst 1 which is good but a little old. Riven = Myst 2 = My favorite, but actually for your type of puzzles, I would first try others. Exile - should be very, very good for you. Myst 4 - Another hotty for you, and also beautiful graphics (definitelly the best I ever saw - and I've seen a lot of games) Myst 5 - play it if you really liked the others There's no better puzzle-game out there in my eyes. And, it's much more than just a "crack the puzzles up" game. Every puzzle has it's reason for existing - the puzzle is there for the sake of the plot, not for the sake of being a puzzle. I cannot think of *one* puzzle that isn't solvable in *all* these games, or that is not based on very healthy logic (and it does help to know some physics sometimes, or to have some healthy math basics - but of course it's not a must!). And last but not least - the puzzles are parts of dynamic, beautiful worlds (or ages), which are breath-taking in their design and atmosphere. Solving them is usually very, very satisfying (more than just knowing you solved it), and the Mysts always put a new standart to pre-rendered games, graphic-wise. Yes, I'm addicted, and they're much more than games for me. A MUST.
There's definitely definitely definitely no logic to human behaviour.

If you are into casual games you could check out Azada which you can find on www.bigfishgames.com. You can download the 1 hour trial before you buy. It's ALL puzzles!

recently I bought Sentinel at Big Lots, they are carrying more and more Games... and I was so surprised how much I love this game, I Love puzzles the type with symbols, or math, I would rather do these than the inventory type. If you enjoyed Sentinel, be sure to check out other games by the same developer (Detalion). Schizm 2 (aka Mysterious Journey 2) is very similar to Sentinel. Schizm (aka Mysterious Journey) is more difficult than these games. Detalion also made a game called Reah, which I think is their earliest puzzle-type game. Schizm and Reah were made for Win 95/98, but I think some people have managed to play them in XP. Another game you might be interested in is RAMA. There are lots of number-related puzzles in RAMA, which can be either a good thing or a bad thing depending on how much you enjoy working in bases other than base 10. Obsidian is a very interesting game with some innovative puzzles, though this game is getting hard to find. Alida and the RHEM games are more recent. If you have an older computer, Jewels of the Oracle and Jewels 2 are good puzzle games. I don't know how well they work on newer computers with XP. I'm pretty sure Jewels 2 is not compatible with XP. The Fool's Errand, and other games by Cliff Johnson, are very old games and are now free from the developer's website. http://www.thefoolsgold.com/downloads/index.htm The graphics are antiquated, but they're still a lot of fun if you enjoy puzzles. | | |

Yeah, Schizm is also a good puzzle game (Schizm 2 is totally focused on puzzles... a little too much in my taste, and I love puzzles).

And then there are the Wonderland games - 1, 2 and 3 from midnightsynergy.com - even my 2 granddaughters ages 10 & 12 like these when they come for a visit tho they are not here long enough to get into very many levels, where they are is saved for them and they can start where they left off next visit. Love, Betty lou

JK, so funny you mention 7th Guest, I almost got it too, think it said sold out, then I realized, I need to watch the pocket book, LOL, Myst was one of my first ones to, I remember playing the incredible machine, that is before I had links to walk though and hint sites, some of those games are so hard without them JK, as far as the patch, I remember someone saying there are two different versions of the Pandora's Box, I hope I bought the right one? one was released much earlier, I suppose I should of asked this BEFORE buying but i was so excited to find it under 30 dollars I couldn't wait!! Betty Lou I have not heard of the Wonderland games either I am off to do more research, thanks.. Pokey I haven't heard of either one of those games, I did some gaming back in the mid and late 90's , then went away a long time, then coming back I am so surprised how many games there are, I am still surprised who is making them all???

Hi HJ! I believe Pandora's Box was released in a standard version and a "Game of the Year" version. The only difference between the two was that the latter had a few more puzzles. (If I'm wrong in this presumption, fellow Boomers, please correct me as I don't want to mislead our new friend!) And yes...it's so easy to get carried away buying game after game! LOL! I think there are only a few adventure games that I could get by without a walkthrough. The Nancy Drews mostly. It's usually because I always miss a hotspot...thus an item I should have...or a clue. Or I get impatient! I admire the brilliant people who write them! And I appreciate them.
