King's Quest 7 maybe? I still see it on ebay often, if you can't find it elsewhere.

Dracula Resurrection is absolutely cracking, and the first game I completed without any need of a walkthrough. If you think your mum might enjoy a creepy atmospheric game, that might be the one for her. I would also agree on Road to India, it is a very enjoyable, easy to play game. It is available to purchase from www.play.com.

KQ7 was made for Win95. I had to use win95 compatibility mode to install it in winxp. I'm guessing it should run fine on that pc Skeeter22UK

I love Phantasmagoria by Sierra Online.....don't know if you can find it on Amazon or somewhere.......great game and not too difficult - though ultimately a horror game so beware.

What about those Monkey Island games? I don't remember what I played them on, but they amused me at the time. Or is that to babyfied?
OK, now what?

My mum has a old p2 333 with a s3 virge 2mb i think gfx card and onboard sound which is probably dire to say the least. Not at all. That's a great computer for old Win 95 games. How well it would work for DOS games would depend on what sound card it has. I tryed grim fandango and the computer wasnt up to it. Actually it should work in software mode. But Grim Fandango looks kind of ugly in software mode. Amerzone would be good. Sanitarium would be good if she's not squeamish. King's Quest 7 (Windows version) and Dracula Resurrection have already been mentioned. Monkey Island 3 (Curse of Monkey Island) might be a little tough for someone not used to playing adventure games.

Huntsville had a bad time on my "old" athlon xp 1600+ with 512 megs of ram. Unfortunately, the newer casual games require a lot of 2D power and they probably won't run.
I'm putting in a vote for road to india - it's gorgeous and it wasn't too hard. If she's not squeamish about horror games, 7th Guest and 11th hour were two of the FIRST puzzle games I played and didn't need a walkthrough. You can also try the entire Legend of Kyrandia series if you can find it, or Zork: Grand Inquisitor - hilarious.
If she doesn't mind cockroaches, Bad Mojo was a great game. It's all physical puzzles with no inventory or overhead controls to learn.
but you know something that my mom in law (when she was 77) really enjoyed? Katamari Damacy on the PS2. Not an adventure, but she liked the move-2-sticks-control-everything system and she thought it was really funny.
