Well, for the first time in my life I think I'm going to have to resort to using a saved game from someone.

Does anyone have a save after putting the hook/rope thru the screen over the door at the docks. Even if it's a couple steps past that point I don't mind. I've been trying for most of tonight to find the hotspot, to the point where I got a little motion sick from moving the camera around so much.

Thanks in advance!!

The saved game has been sent Jess. The door is unlocked, just open it and walk in.

Received your email, thanks very much Sue!

But the game will not recognize the save you sent. I'm guessing it's because I've never installed the patch/patches for this game. And as I understand it, saves from a nonpatched game are incompatible with patced game and vice versa.

Is the save you sent me from a patched game? I'm planning to install the patches anyway, but just wanted to confirm with you.

Thanks again!

My game is not patched Jess so not sure why it isn't recognized.

Hmmm, not sure what the problem is either. I've got 1 more idea to try, hopefully it'll work.

As long as I'm here, let me also ask: will there be much more hotspot hunting like this part was in the game? I may scrap playing it all together if that's the case, because it really does make me a nauseous to move the camera around looking for a hotspot. And that's not worth it for me just to play a game (though I was really looking forward to this one).

Try slowing down your mouse speed if you can but yes, there will be hunting for hotspots in more of the game. Play for shorter periods of time too.

Still can't get the game to recognize the saved game. I've downloaded it, put it in the saved games folder, but when I open the game, that save is not available to load. I've tried keeping it as the name (save_5) you sent it as. Also renamed save_1 & overwrote the existing save_1 in my folder, still didn't show up in the game.

Any suggestions?

And thanks for the hotspot hunting info, Sue! smile Think I'll stick it out for now. I've never had much of a problem with the moving camera type of games before, but this one is giving me problems.

Are you using Vista or XP as your OS?

That's our problem then Jess. I know nothing about Vista other than it doesn't work the same as XP. Your saves may have to install differently.

Not sure why Vista vs. XP should make a difference in this case. I mean, the saved game is just a jpeg file, right?

Does this thread need to be moved to the Glitches forum in order for me to figure out how to load the save game?

Or does anyone out there with Vista have a save game?

Thanks again, Sue!

Jess I hesitate to move any more threads to Glitches about Vista and the problems members are having with it and installing saved games. It isn't a glitch, it's a lack of knowledge.
Have you looked through threads in that forum about saved games and using Vista?
Yes, the save is just a jpeg but by the same token, it may not recognize or want to recognize the data embedded in the jpeg.

Looked thru the Glitches forum and no luck. Was even a thread there that said specifically that a save from XP should work on Vista, that the problem is most likely a PC to PC thing, not an OS thing.

Think I'm going to just scrap this game entirely, which is pretty disappointing, but at the moment it appears to be more trouble than it's worth.

Thanks for trying, Sue, and for the saved game!

ETA:

Of course, right after I posted this I decided to try 1 more thing and now I think I've figured it out. When I checked the properties of the game file you sent there was a little message saying it was from an unknown user and so was blocked. I had to unblock it.

In the meantime, I'd already uninstalled the game, so I'll have to reinstall and see if the save works now that it's been "unblocked".

------

ETA #2: Still won't recognize/open the save file. And when I check the game log after trying, I see an error about a broken save file. So I wonder if my email did something to the save file you sent & corrupted it.

Sue, could I trouble you to resend the save game to my personal email account? Let me know and I could give you my other email address somehow (I see you don't accept PMs).

If this doesn't work, I promise to stop bothering you!
