I am really getting tired of stray dogs digging holes all over my yards throughout my neighborhood. Does anyone know if I can uninstall the pets expansion without doing harm to my saved games?

I'm just speculating, but I doubt it. The expansion has elements the original game doesn't have. Perhaps you could back up your saves before you proceed, then put the expansion and saves back in if it all goes sideways on you.

Wow glad I didn't get the pets expansion JohnBoy.
I did get the Seasons, Nightlife and Bon Voayage for Christmas and have been enjoying those. Having weather while playing is really cool and being able to watch the waves coming in feels real.

I would suggest that you put up a fence around your whole place if you haven't already. Don't know if un-installing an expansion messes anything up or not though.

The Sims 2 forum may have answers for you...just a suggestion.

According to the official forum, Robert is right - the expansions affect your base game files. But, maybe this thread on the official forum will help with the holes.

Sorry VHL, I didn't see that you had written that about the fence! But also the link talks about some mod that stops the dogs from digging. Have no idea if it works though!

oh thats OK Nickie. smile
The fence is the only thing that came to mind. As for the mod...it may just do the trick. There may also be a cheat for it but not sure about that.

The fence don't work. The dogs get in through the gates. I did find a cheat (moveobjests on) that removes objects (weeds, holes & other items) you cannot normally remove except by commanding a Sim to remove them. This works a lot quicker. Sims usually arent in the mood to remove them or they tire out before they are through and the holes never get removed. Your yard looks like, well... when it is full of holes.
I was really discouraged by the Pets expansion but now that I solved this horrible problem I just might be able to enjoy it better. Although it would be nice to just be able to keep the strays out of your yard.
Thanks everyone! JB

Wouldn't it be nice if you could find a BB gun mod?

I did read on the site that Nickie gave you that you should lock the gates and make sure you put them in 1 block from the sidewalk because they will still get in if you don't. Lock the gate and only let it open for you or household help.
