(Mods, are articles of interest -- game related -- okay to post? If not, please let me know!)

Article on casual games from the BBC yesterday:

Quote:
For many years video games have been all about the hard core player.

These people, typically young men, have the time, budget and patience to spend hours crafting an empire or honing their skills on a first-person shooter. But that focus is shifting dramatically thanks to a very simple game that involves creating rows of matching jewels.

Thanks Misa, good read!

I'm glad they are finally getting the message that there are a lot of gamers out here of every age wave

What I also like about the article is that they smash the myth that "There's nothing necessarily casual about playing them." I think we can all attest to the hours upon hours of gaming that we engage in with casual games.

I was thinking about the recent shift I've been seeing with casual games where more puzzle and adventure elements are being incorporated and people seem to really want more than just seek and find or clicking. I'm delighted! smile
