Please post your system specs. The system specs can be found in the DirectX Diagnostic Tool by clicking start->run->type dxdiag->click ok. If you are running Windows Vista and do not have the "run" command, then type dxdiag in "search".

It is not necessary to close this window to run dxdiag. Therefore you can refer to this post while gathering the info for us....so that you don't leave anything out.

We need the following information:

Under the System Tab :

1. Operating system
2. Processor model and speed.
3. Amount of memory (RAM)
....then click the Display Tab:
4. Video card brand and model (next to device "Name")
5. The driver version (this will be a series of numbers)
6. The driver date.

Hi Susy,
I got the same message when I tried to play using my 'old' ATI X300 card. the game needs Shader 3 to run. I had to upgrade my card.
The Ubisoft solution page says you will have this message if your system does not have the necessary requirements. You will find the graphic cards the game supports listed on your Lost DVD help.
Hope this helps. wave

Susy, if you need help or recommendations for upgrading your video card, post the brand and model number of your computer.

Your video card does not meet the game's system requirements. The FX5200 does not support Shader Model 3.0. You need to install a newer video card if you want to play this game.

I also think that the computer might be too slow with 1,6 GHz - Lost needs at least 2,4 GHz. I played it with 3 GHz and it still didn't run smoothly.

Shiny.

The "2.4 GHZ" CPU system requirement refers to older Intel Pentium processors with the old "Netburst" architecture. The new Intel Pentium 2140 has a much more efficient architecture. The 2140 running at 1.6GHZ is actually much faster than an old Netburst Pentium running at 2.4GHZ. Those clock speed requirements for the CPU do not apply to newer processors.

That FX5200 must be a PCI video card. Motherboards that support the 2140 would not have an AGP slot. It would have a 16X PCI-Express slot, and there's no such thing as an FX5200 for 16X PCI-Express.

Then your processor was not the problem. The quality of your video card and the amount of RAM you have are FAR more important to the performance of your games than the processor. Install a faster video card and make sure you have at least 1GB of RAM (for XP) or 2GB (for Vista) and your games will run much more smoothly.
