It's a combination of genres. It's time management and sort of tycoon type of game. You basically have a list of tasks you must complete in order to pass the level. Most of the time, they throw one last task at you at the last minute. I've never been one to play these types of games but the original one was one of my favorite games of last year.
It's a lot of strategy involved if you want to get stars in all levels. Pretty good game overall.
