I would like to invite the community here to try the demo of our new game, 'Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble!'

http://www.mousechief.com

We posted here once before, but in the RPG and Adventure sections. This is a crossover product from casual games to something with more bite to it's story. We would love to hear your feedback because the majority here are already sinking their teeth into meaty, interactive narratives.

Sometime in the next few weeks, we will be shipping the full version, on both Macintosh and Windows, so your timely feedback will really help us polish the final game.

Sherryah,

It's text only. We couldn't afford voice acting, but we are hiring a second round of proofreading :-)

Question, would text-to-speech computer voice be a useful option to you?

Keith, I played for a bit. I like the "expose" game.

looney4labs,

Thanks! We've been very concerned about the 'fibbing' game. How did that work for you? Your thoughts, suggestions... ?

Went, looked, saw, left.
Don't like the connotations of hurting others; "dangerous", "trouble", "fib"(same as lying), "bully", "gang", "stalk", "small-minded", "naughty", "destructive", "villians"; a lot of negative words.

3dobermans,

It's certainly not a game for children. That's why we rated it for TEENS and older. (as noted on our website) The gameplay is meant be naughty, but not mean or destructive. Your gang of girls go out into the world and confront meanness and destruction. They must survive and overcome it. By the end of the full story, they drive their town to see it's failings. It's social satire. So yes, there are lousy things in the world. The full story offers a tiny bit of insight into why and ways to prevent them, hopefully without preaching.

Who would ever think a game might want to improve the world. What's that old, feminist slogan? 'A well-behaved woman rarely makes history.'

At first I wasn't so sure, the title itself made it sound well, naughty. However, after about 10 minutes of game play I was really intrigued and hooked. I was mad my demo was up!

The only game I did not understand was the "fib" game, it made no sense. It nees more directions or changed. I would like to be able to actually pick my own fibs and see if they work.

The game is very different from anything I played, I love the "board game" idea.

Since it's rated Teen, I doubt BFG would pick it up (if you allowed that) and I just don't have $20 to spare on games. However, I would like to play more of it. I think there could be a few more directions though, how to play was a bit confusing as was, what exactly I was supposed to be accomplishing.

I just kept clicking people and figuring things out for myself.

One other thing, you need to mark places, it told me to go to South Lawn (I think) to turn on sprinklers, but I had no clue where to find tha.

That was an respectable and honest answer, Keith. But being 60+ years I've seen enough reality to last me; not that it still won't be there and need to be dealt with. If it's a game that will help turn a "mean teen" around, then I wish you well.
And you did have another game that sounded fun, so may go back and check it out further.

Actually BFG does carry games rated Teen.

I was also going to say that it would be more fun to be able to "pick" who we want in the "gang", so if they agreed to join we could accept of decline them.

PMcOuntry,

You wrote that the fibbing game was confusing. When you clicked on the 'i' button to read the instructions, was any of it helpful?

I am very much interested in improving the fibbing game. This one is the third one I've developed. I really hope I can make it easier to understand and more fun.

Thanks for your comments!

3dobermans,

That's cool. You should find 'The Witch's Yarn' the brighter fare you're looking for. It tells a pretty meaningful story too.

I hope you enjoy it.

I didn't actually click on the "i" so maybe that's why I didn't understand it.

Keith,

The game is a lot of fun and very different from what's out on the market. I like that the game nudges you along and tells you where you need to go next to investigate.

The taunt game reminded me a lot of "insult swordfighting" from the Monkey Island series. And I had a lot of fun with the "expose" game.

I think it might serve you well to describe the minigames on your website so that people could understand more what the "taunt", "expose" and "fib" games consist of.

Speaking of the "fib" game, I also found it confusing. I didn't really know what to do despite reading the instructions. I did win it twice though.

Anyway, great work. Keep us updated on when the full game is released!

Thanks Misa,

I sure will post when the game is done. Until then, I'll visit this thread regularly for those who'd like to comment on the game. You never know what we might be able to tuck in for the release.

wish us luck,

Hi Keith,
I tried the demo but I kept losing because I do not understand the fibbing game, or the expose game even after clicking on the i. button.

I think the roaring twenties music is a great touch to the game. You have a great imagination to have thought of this storyline.

Sherryah, if you want to try the expose game again (I found it a lot of fun), here's how to play it.

The girl who is playing has a limited number of icons/tokens that represents her personality and "skill". What you're trying to do is "expose" the sentence. Each word in the sentence is made up of icons/tokens as well so choose which one you want to expose by clicking on it. Remember that you have a limited number of each. After your icons/tokens are used up, you'll have to guess the missing word from a list to form the correct sentence.

Hello Sherryah,

In general, we've had pretty good success with the expose game. If you do try it again and figure it out, could you please let me know how the game might have made it clearer for you?

We are attempting to replace the fibbing game with a new design. This design needs to be tested before we ship the game. Mousechief has some resources, but would anyone in this forum be willing to try a special, private demo of the game, just to let us know if the new design is an improvement?

Keith, I'd love to demo the game when you've redesigned the fibbing game. My email address is in my profile.
