Still can't solve the safe puzzle on level 4. I've tried it, with the walkthrough, and it doesn't work.

Those sundial leaves are hard to see. Try adjusting the gamma (brightness) in your options. Make it a couple of clicks brighter and you should be able to see them all.

Hi all, I'm having a real go round with the box game. The computer is beating the "heck" out of me. I swear sometimes I think its cheating. I did really well with this type of game in Azada, could beat it most times. At least now I can take my time. Thank you GameBoomers Angels!!! I've looked at the WT and posts, any hints would be appreciated. The computer is so quiet I have trouble keeping track of what it is doing. Hugs Lillian

This is a toughie, but you can do it. Leave this to the last in this level. This is not a walkthrough, just a strategy I used from my childhood.

The idea of this puzzle is alot like the little plastic tile key chain puzzles you got when you were a kid, aligning the colored tiles...something like a 2D Rubik's Cube

You have to move the tiles in an order to leave the pattern shown. Think of the tiles as an order to follow.. moving each row or tile a few times just to get one in place, then move on.

This is ultimately a trial and error puzzle, you should get it eventually.

Which step for column 7? Is it step 9. Push column 7 down twice?

If so - click on the top of column 7; there are 2 tiles in that column that is apart. First click places them close together then move both downwards.

Can anyone give me a step by step guide to solving the string puzzle. I have studied both diagrams given as a solution, but I am just getting boggled eyed trying to sort out the strings in the correct position. Iv'e never been much good at this type of puzzle. I have tried all the strategies given but to no avail and I just cannot progress further, and I am getting frustrated and tearing my hair out.

Babs,

Watch and study if the tangle threads.
If you are working on the thread that is under, find out where there is an open space that you can place it to not be under.
Take one tangle thread - then another.
Work on one side going to the other side slowly.
Make a perimeter and make that stretched large so that you have space inside to work with. It is a fun puzzle. luck

There is only one file that is saved, I think - that is where you close the thread or the auto during start of a level.
They can be found here: C:\Documents and Settings\your computer's name\Application Data\Games

This game is too much for me. Still doesn't work. Guess I will have to give it up. There is no "Application Data" that I can find. Thanks for all the help you have given me with the other problems.

You have to show the hidden folders in your computer.
Click on the Documents and settings folder.
Select TOOLS on top bar.
Select Folder Options. Then select Views and find and tick on the Hidden folder - Show hidden folders. luck

No, I finished the "safe puzzle". Now I'm at Lindon Hall. I can click on the Office and Hall. Where is the Lady's sitting room? Can't click on anything else in there.

The Lady's sitting room is where you did the string puzzle. If you finished it then you're done with that room (after you picked all items)..

I haven't done the red box puzzle or the string puzzle yet. I just got to Lindon Hall but I can only click on the office and the hall. I can't even find the Lady's sitting room.

blush I am mixing posters. You are safe puzzle vet and Babs is string puzzle gamer. Ok. Got that.

Has Holmes stated that you finished level 4 already?
If not, check which room still is golden and then go there to finish.
Once you get to level 5, then check the files (suspect and testimonies) at the police place.
If you got a saved game from someone - ask them where they finished.

I must give Kudos and Claps to Frogwares! I emailed them with a problem I was having at a certain level, asking if they would consider a patch or a change to the "rules" for solving. Low and behold- here came an email with a save for the particular puzzle so I can move on with the game.

What wonderful customer service!

Also, thanks to all gameboomers members who have helped me as well!
bravo thanks
