Someone said that about the reverend and the beast? I don't think that's right, because I talked to him right away about it and I'm pretty sure I didn't miss anything else. Maybe they meant once you complete the beast quest, you can't go back and do the side quests. For the second chapter, once you unlock the tower and click on the character there, the main story line kicks in - you could miss some quests that way. I wandered around for a while after I unlocked the tower, seeing the character but not clicking on him. I didn't do the gravediggers quest because I thought it was awful, so can't help with that one.

I wasn't going to do the gravedigger quest either because there was no way I was going to kill a dog. But I found enough in the houses and from the merchants that I didn't have to. I don't think if you kill a dog you get any tallow anyway. Not sure about that because I wasn't going to even try!

Hugh, did you try that one merchant in the row that sells lower class stuff, or the herbalist that is just beyond them? Just can't remember, sorry. I'm pretty sure the hermit in the swamp has some, if you have gotten to that point in the game.

Yes I tried the herbalist, she doesn't have it. I'll search for it in the swamp then, thanx nickie. Draclvr, do u remember any merchants? There are some merchants in a line in dwarf area but none of them had one except for the alchemist who was a suspect. But I'll keep lookin. Did u guys kill gramps for bein the cannibal. I haven't done this quest yet so I don't know if he would be rude or stop bein a cannibal in the dialogs

Hey Hugh. It's not a real big impact on the game either way. You get more points if you kill him. He gets some help, so you end up battling more than just him.
If you let him live you'll get about a 3rd of the points but a little bonus that might help you along the way if you're into alchemy

Hugh, I've done the "gramps" quest both ways. It just depends on what you feel like doing at the time! You decision will affect other quests, but I don't think they are important to the eventual outcome.
EDIT: Trail has given you more info than I remember! Go for which ever way seems right at the time...

Hugh- I have to agree with Drac and have done the quest both ways, this time so far I am ignoring him. Have fun. maggie :spring: _________________________________________________________________ Hugh- When you check out all the empty houses, check the furniture, I have found a couple of dog tallow there.

Try in the evening. I believe drowners come out at night if I recall correctly.

Trail is correct. The Drowners at the landing come out at night. You can use meditate to advance the time to midnight. I think I tried at 6:00 pm and they still didn't come out.
But don't worry, you will meet plenty of Drowners and Drowned Dead in the game. I made a boatload of money selling Drowner brains and tongues to Kalkstein.

Hugh- I generally go to the swamp at noon and then sit by the fire till midnight. Then the drowners really come out. Also, I notice a few glitches in my game if I have tons of saves, so I only save about two days. Nickie or anyone, Can you tell me what the difference is between the regular Witcher game and the new one you can buy? Are there new scenes, different language, etc???????????? Thanks maggie :spring:

Maggie, I heard that the new one would have improvements made utilizing feedback from customers plus new content. I've been waiting to buy this til that one was out. Is it out now? The new content is supposed to available as a download to the folks who bought the original release

L4L is correct. The new game is not for sale in the stores yet, nor is the download available for those of us who already have it. We will have new characters to replace the repetitive use of the same ones, some new dialogue and many other improvements. Here is a link to all the improvements we will have... IF we can wait that long!! It's supposed to be released in May, but I've heard it may not quite make it. Tbe Witcher

L4L and Drac- Thanks so much for the information, so I do not need to buy the new one? I know L4L is going to, are you Drac??? It would be nice to get all the new stuff and characters in one game and not all the downloads. Thanks so much maggie _________________________________________________________________ Drac- I have read the information in the link you gave me, all of it and I must say, I am going to buy the new game too. Sounds like it will be great. Thanks again.

I'm just going to do the download and save myself $50!! I actually don't mind this download because this is the first game I've ever purchased and played where the developers actually listened to all the feedback from the players and are striving to make the game the absolutely best experience for us they can. Very refreshing...

Hugh, in the upper right hand corner is a small image in a circle, of the sun (if day) or moon (if night) passing across the landscape. Float your cursor over the top of it and the time will appear. That also tells you if an area is dangerous or not; red claw marks across it indicate danger.

Hugh, go to the docks area in the swamp at dusk - very close to where you get off the boat is a place you can light a fire. Meditate there until midnight, as indicated on the meditation screen. You'll quickly meet the downers you need to for the quest, just in that same area by the docks, except there is a tiny delay until the last one may appear. Once you kill the ones you need for this particular quest, the game will let you know that you've completed that quest.

Maggie: if your talking about the Witcher patch 1.3 with the new adventures that is downloaded from here: The Witcher patch 1.3 If you mean the upcoming new release of the Witcher I'm sure the official site will have a link(s) to the download. The only way that you would get a new disk is if you purchase the new version when it comes out. Only the download will be available for free to those who previously purchased the game.

Another reason to make sure you register your game if you have bought it. I am on their list for updates and newsletters, so will probably get a notification when the new download is available.
