No more "plodding", Mad. You've now got the "Boots"! thumbsup

Does anyone know where the Morrowind save games are located if you have Vista? I wish to shave my save game list a bit but the game doesn't give a delete option, so I'm looking for an alternate way to do this.

Hi, I quickly scanned through this thread, and I find it interesting that there's so much interest in the Boots of Blinding Speed. Well, now, -I reckon that would be because one walks so frustratingly slowly at the beginning of this game.
Whenever I replay from the beginning for some reason, this set of boots is one of the first items I procure, for this very reason.
Some tips, though: Although it's fun to try out the beast races, keep in mind that they cannot wear boots at all; so forget Boots Of Blinding Speed or Boots of the Apostle, if your'e a Kajiit or an Argonian.

I have personally found that my favourite race is Breton, which comes with built-in magic resistance, so Bretons can wear these boots with absolutely no penalty.
If your slowness frustrates you, try to run and jump as much as possible, so that you can level up your Athletics and Speed maximally.

Wecome to Morrowind, Moondancer. welcome I've also played Morrowind before so I have the advantage of knowing where to look for a few favorite necessities.

My favorite character is a dark elf because I like fighting as an archer. Since the end game requires a long sword I like that skill, too. I also like increasing my thief skills right away.

Hey, welcome Moondancer. A new Gameboomer for the Dark Side!

Those of us who have played Morrowind a few times like to drop increasingly direct hints about various things for people who are playing for the first time and getting a little frustrated -- sort of lifting the veils one peek at a time. For someone who is getting a little weary of walking everywhere the Boots are such a wonderful thing to discover -- especially when you learn how to use them for flying. When I first played I sold the dang things and had a "Duh" moment upon discovering the secret for using them. And then I couldn't find them anywhere.

But I've never played a Breton, and might do so next time just to get the Boots working early on in the game, now that I know about the magic resistance. I've always played Dark elves too but I might be persuaded to switch for that reason alone. Thanks.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Hi, Rowan, thanks for the welcome. In spite of having played Morrowind the first time years ago, I still haven’t managed to do everything! The last replay I started was to join House Telvanni, for which I’ve now done most of the quests, but I still have not done any of the Vampire or Wherewolf quests, neither have I risen to the top of the Thieves’ guild. When I have the time to play MW again, (too many other games, currently) I might just pick your brains re thieving, as I seem to be the worst thief ever! (It took me a gazillion attempts to steal the book from Sotthilde, for instance)

Oh, and re Elder Scrolls and Dark Elves; - that’s my fave race for Oblivion. The inherent fire restistance helps a lot when entering the plane of Oblivion, plus, you can actually make your Dunmer character look handsome/pretty for a change!

In Mw, Crossbow, in addition to either Long Blade or Axe tends to be my fave weapons, and as I always create a custom class, I just make sure I start off with my stats high in the skill regarding my weapons of choice.

Thanks Hagatha! I’ve been a silly-billy regarding Gameboomers, I guess, only using it for reviews and the occasional walkthrough. As my gaming interests include RPG (my favourite), Adventure, RTS and TBS, I used to frequent the forums at Gamefaqs and a mainly a few Adventure sites, thinking that GBoomers was just another Adventure site.
What a pity I never realised what a cool RPG community you guys have here!

Indeed!

I have a quick question. Is there anything to be gained by clicking on "dispose of corpse" after you kill a beast and raid the body?

It's spring. My life is weeds.

I think it just unclutters the area. BTW, if you click on "dispose..." before looting the corpse, the stuff automatically goes into your inventory anyway.

I always dispose of the people I kill, if I don't want their stuff, I throw it on the floor. Don't want them stinking up the caves. I did leave one once in the lowest level in Vivec, when I went back later to loot the body, it was gone, guess the rats ate him and his valuable armour. That is why I strip them now. Creatures respawn faster if you get rid of the corpse, so I usually leave them. Besides that it gives me a trail to follow back.

I finally went back to my game today, I installed Tribunal and Bloodmoon and met up with an assassin when I tryed to rest and heal a bit in Mammammu. Well I dispatched him with my spear and got all his armor. Pretty costly stuff and rated 57, light. Put one set of Orc armour in the bedroom at the Balmora mages and sold the other set to the Creeper. I look pretty stupid, all in black with some sort of googles on the helm, but at least I left on my skirt. I ran into a zapper person in the same cavern, died once so put on my other cuirass to protect myself. I have lots of stuff yet to take from that cavern. I helped myself to all the gold, brandy, anything of value. Now I have a quest to kill the Hunger in the Sarano Tomb, shudder......

Good deal Hawk! That is great armor and the assassins are kind enough to supply you with a fairly regular income lol

I don't know why, but out of all the creatures in Morrowind, those things always used to creep me out the most...

Since then, I rested two more times and two more assassins attacked me in the Balmora Mages Guild, hah, they died and I got to play store again. I haven't had the courage to look for the Hunger yet, maybe I will go after the Necromancers first. If The Hunger creeps you out, I can imagine what it will do to me. Time to unwind with Big Fish Bingo.

Hi :-)

I haven't installed either Tribunal or Bloodmoon yet. I always thought one complete game had to be played at a time.
[For example, with NWN, I played the original then all the expansions in turn grin]

So can expansions be installed (without wrecking anything) when only part of the original game has been played ?? woozy

Cheers.

I am playing along as usual, just the assassins have been added so far and the initial splash screen is grey colored and has Tribunal and Bloodmoon on it. Maybe someone else can explain how they tie in together. It did take forever when I loaded my last save, it said parsing quests and that it could take awhile. It also instructs you to save when it is finished.

Hi hawkavonpuka smile

Thanks for that !! thumbsup

So you can play on and not lose saves or anything.

I expect if I carry on and finish Morrowind - then load Tribunal and finish that - and then load Bloodmoon, I will start as a novice each time, as I did in NWN.

I don't mind doing that though ....

Can't decide one way or the other now lol

Cheers.

Mad, somehow I think you have to play into them, there is no separate option to play either of the games alone. Hopefully one of the experts will come along and explain it to us.

Edit here: I checked to see what would happen if I put in my Tribunal cd, all it does is ask me if I want to install it, which of course, I had already done. Seems you might want to go ahead and install now, otherwise it will take even longer for your computer to "parse" them. About the Assassins, I blabbed to a guard about them and he said they are part of the Black Brotherhood, or something like that and I need to talk to someone in Ebonheart about them. Supposedly according to a w/t, they will now leave me alone when I rest. I don't mind killing them, but don't want to get stuck in the armour selling game forever. My journal has been updated.

Right, there are prompts in the dialogues that would lead you on to each of the expansions. The assassins are the trigger for Tribunal and the Isle of Solstheim is the location for Bloodmoon. This is just personal opinion, but for continuity sake I prefer to play them in the order of their release - Morrowind, Tribunal and Bloodmoon because there is dialogue that refers back to the previous story lines.

If you're using the Game of the Year version you want to load Morrowind, Tribunal and Bloodmoon in that order because of of the way certain patches are installed.

When you install Tribunal it adds the assassins to Morrowind as well as the Mage in Ebonhart that will offer transport to Mournhold (the Tribunal city). You play with your existing Morrowind character. It also adds an interaction with one of the guards in Ebonhart who will tell you how to stop the assassins. If you do that mini quest the assassins will stop in Morrowind but you will run into them again in Mournhold. You can go to Mournhold at any time during your Morrowind experience but it's not usually recommended until you are at least level 15.

When you install Bloodmoon it adds a character who will hang around the outside of the Ald Rhun mages guild. He will give you a quest to look for something in Soltsheim (the Bloodmoon place). It will also add another boatman and ship at the Khuul docks which is your transport to Solstheim. You will also from then on get Solstheim as a conversation topic with most NPCs. Their responses will encourage you to wait for a higher level before venturing there.

Having said all that be careful of installing either of these expansions if you have Vista. Currently I have only Tribunal installed but I never had the assassins and the transport NPC in Ebonhart is missing. I suspect Tribunal didn't install properly even though my splashscreen includes it. When I loaded Bloodmoon the Morrowind game became unloadable. So I reinstalled Morrowind with only Tribunal. Because of my problems I will probably try to reinstall Tribunal after I'm done with Morrowind. If you are running any other operating system you should be fine to install all components at any time.

helpNow I just wish to repeat a question I had earlier: Does anyone know where the Morrowind saves are hidden on Vista? I would like to reduce the numbers I have. thanks

Thanks Rowan and Trail for the info, I have XP so no problems there and I did install them in order. I have no intention of traveling to anywhere more difficult until much much later, I have enough to do as it is. I did want the assassins armor though and on my next trip to Ebonheart I will look for the transporter.
